Holy Day Ministries are Outreach programs that occur around various holidays.

Advent Gift Ministry (formerly Advent Tent):  Volunteers have the opportunity to sign up to provide gifts through various Holy Day ministries on several Sundays in November for gift giving during the Christmas season.

Alternative Christmas Giving:  The Alternative Christmas Giving program provides an opportunity to make donations to selected charities (e.g. Child Rescue Centre, Heifer Project) in honor of a particular person.

Angel Tree: Each year at Christmas, Prison Fellowship's Angel Tree program reaches out to children who are separated from their parents because they are incarcerated. Volunteers purchase and deliver gifts to children and their at-home caregivers on behalf of their incarcerated parents. Volunteers are either “administrative angels, “gift angels” or “gift delivery angels.” For more information, visit http://www.pfm.org.

Appalachia Outreach:  Volunteers provide food, clothing, and toys during the Christmas season for children and families in need.  This program is operated in coordination with the New River Community Outreach Center in Floyd, Virginia.

Christmas Caroling:  Join groups of singers as they carol at detention centers, long term care facilities, and the homes of shut-ins during the Christmas season.

Day Laborers Christmas Party: Volunteers provide grocery store gift certificates and warm clothing as gifts at a potluck luncheon held for the Day Laborers during the Christmas Season.  This project is accomplished in cooperation with Reston Interfaith.

Easter Basket Ministry:
Volunteers prepare and deliver Easter baskets for the children and families who reside in local area shelters and transitional housing.

Hutchison Needs:  Volunteers provide clothing, toys, and holiday meals for families of students at Hutchison Elementary School during the Christmas season.

Loudoun Abused Women's Shelter (L.A.W.S.):  Volunteers support this temorary emergency shelter for abused women with food and grocery store coupons during the Christmas season.  To learn more about L.A.W.S visit http://www.lcsj.org.

Society of St. Andrew Lenten Program (S.O.S.A): This is a program of penance, spiritual reflection, prayer and renewal held during Lent. Each participant or family is provided a booklet of devotions and a coin box. Participants are asked to share in hunger ministries by giving up something meaningful to them for the season…like sweets, a lunch a week, etc. At the end of Lent, participants make a financial contribution to S.O.S.A. for the amount they saved.  For further information about the Society of St. Andrew visit http://www.endhunger.org.
