Housing Ministries are those projects that assist local area families in repairing or renovating their homes.
Habitat for Humanity: Volunteers assist in building houses for needy families on various Saturdays throughout the year. These projects are done as part of Habitat for Humanity Northern of Virginia. For more information visit http://www.hfhnv.org.
Hearts and Hammers:
Volunteers refurbish qualified homes owned by low-income families. This is a year-round volunteer home repair program that serves persons with disabilities and older adults in Washington DC, Arlington, Fairfax, and portions of Prince George's County. Projects range from small repairs completed by 2-3 people to larger projects requiring 15-20 volunteers. For more information, visit http://www.rpjhousing.org/hearts.html.Rebuilding Together (formerly Christmas in April): Rebuilding Together is a large national event held on the last Saturday in April each year. Volunteers take hammers, saws, paint rollers, and rakes in hand to give a complete makeover to homes approved to receive a Rebuilding Together grant. Robert Pierce Johnson (RPJ) Housing Development Corporation administers the program locally for Fairfax and Arlington counties. For more information, visit http://www.rebuildingtogether.org.
