Over the next 18-24 months we will be a part of a very exciting building program as we construct the new sanctuary and the additional administrative spaces. Here are a few things that have happened and will happen very soon:
- The Building Committee announced that the cost of Phase 2 will be at least $2,000,000 LESS than previous estimates.
- On Tuesday, November 11 the Charge Conference approved starting Phase 2 .Work began November 12
- Sully Construction began sectioning off the construction site. On Friday, November 14 they installed a chain link fence around the area. Please respect these fences and avoid the area inside them.
- Drilling has continued to loosen rocks for removal in the next few weeks. Other rocks will be loosened using controlled, small dynamite blasts beginning November 19 and continuing for about one week. These blasts will be preceded by announcements to the staff so they can alert everyone in the building and then by short warning horn blasts immediately prior to the dynamite blasts. A long horn blast will sound once the dynamite blast is done. The blasting will finish prior to 3:00 PM daily.
- Once the rocks are loosened they will be hauled away by truck. This means that, in addition to more trailers and workers vehicles, there will be a sharp increase in the truck traffic coming and going daily. Please be patient as these trucks are slower and bulkier and we must respect their need to use our driveway with us.
- We have temporarily lost 25 parking in the north east corner of the parking lot.
- Concurrent with the digging and preparation for the sanctuary construction, the building phase for the administrative/nursery addition will begin.
- The main entrance will be encroached upon but will remain in usage for the first several months of construction.
We will update this site frequently and add pictures as progress becomes measurable. This work is a wonderful sight after all these months of dreaming praying and planning.
