Special Needs Ministry
We celebrate and welcome individuals of all abilities, and strive to be a place where all can worship and grow in their faith. We offer ministry support that extends the love and message of Jesus Christ to children with special needs and helps to incorporate them fully into the life of the church.
Sunday Morning Buddy Ministry
Children with special needs are invited and encouraged to participate fully in the array of Children's Ministries offered. We have programs at both the 9:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. services for 3-year-olds through 5th grade. Some children with special needs benefit from individualized support. Children and buddy volunteers are matched to assure appropriate supports and assistance are available each week so they can participate fully and successfully in classes with their same-aged peers. Buddy support may also be requested for Children's Ministries events during the registration process. If you would like additional information, please contact Karen Berlin at .
Family Support Ministry
The Family Support Ministry is for families within the Floris congregation who are raising children with special needs. Family Support volunteers provide once a month in-home childcare to children with special needs and their siblings so that parents/caregivers can enjoy a few hours to themselves for such things as a night out, running errands, attending meetings or church functions, etc. If you are interested in learning more about the Family Support Ministry for your family, or if you would like to volunteer to serve as a volunteer, please contact .
Kids Night Out (KNO)
KNO is an opportunity for kids (ages 3 months to 12 years) to have a fun night out at Floris UMC. We play games, enjoy some fun crafts and watch a movie. Parents drop their kids off and have their own night out!
Parents, please send dinner and a drink with your child to eat in the nursery (nut-free), unless you feed your child beforehand. Popcorn and lemonade will be served as a snack during the movie. Feel free to drop your children off later than 5 p.m., and make sure to pick them up by 9 p.m.
Register your child(ren) early; space is limited. A fee of $15 per child is required at time of registration.
FISH (Fifth In Service to Him)
FISH is specifically designed for fifth graders. Once a month, fifth graders meet together to have fun and help others. Whether it’s a scavenger hunt, progressive dinner, ice cream social or a fun game night, FISH promises to be a great time every time!
