Rev. Tom Berlin is the Senior Pastor of Floris United Methodist Church. Tom was raised in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and has lived in Virginia most of his life. He attended Virginia Tech and received a BS in Business from Virginia Tech with a major in Public Administration. His Master’s of Divinity is from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He is married to Karen and they have four daughters.

Tom began working at Floris in 1997. As Lead Pastor of the Church, Tom’s main responsibilities are to provide spiritual leadership to the congregation and staff of Floris United Methodist Church. He leads worship, preaches, shares the sacraments and enjoys teaching. Tom works with the Church Council to discern and cast the vision for the church and leads the staff to create ministry strategies.

Rev. Barbara Miner is an Associate Pastor, Director of Worship at Floris United Methodist Church. Barbara spent her childhood years in Ohio. She attended school in Birmingham, Alabama so she could dance with a local ballet company and complete her degree in Christian Education and Fine Arts. After graduation, she met and married her husband, Marty, and spent the next few years as a military spouse. She and Marty have three grown children.

Barbara has served as a pastor at Floris UMC since 2006. As Director of Worship, Barbara’s main responsibilities are to offer vital, God-honoring worship in a variety of styles for the congregation. She also oversees Congregational Care Ministries and takes pleasure in ensuring that compassionate, spirit-filled care is offered to those in crisis or times of difficulty. She also enjoys preaching and teaching and considers it a privilege to be a pastor here at FUMC.

• First job: Barbara’s first job was wrapping candy at a local candy factory in her hometown.
• Barbara’s idea of a perfect day: Spending time with family, playing games, preferably on or near the water.

Rev. Tim Ward was born in Culpeper, Va. and received his undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia. After college he spent two years working as an account executive in the corporate world while serving as a volunteer in youth ministry at The Falls Church, an historic parish in Falls Church, Va. In 2003 Tim joined the staff as the middle school director at The Falls Church. In 2005 Tim married his wife Susan.

Tim joined the staff of Floris United Methodist Church in the fall of 2006 as the Youth Director. Soon thereafter, Tim and Susan had their first son, Jackson, in February of 2007. In the summer of 2008 Tim began working on his MDIV degree at Wesley Theological Seminary. In 2009 Tim and Susan expanded their family with the birth of twins Nathan and Sarah.

Currently Tim serves as one of the associate pastors at Floris UMC. His focus is on the area of discipleship to children, students, and adults.
