Today I Saw God
La Tremblay Church Dedication
On Saturday, I traveled to Port au Prince for discussions about the United Methodist Church's continued recovery work in Haiti. We have been in partnership with the Methodist Church of Haiti and the people of Haiti for nearly three years now and over 40 members have been a part of five mission trips. Each team from Floris has brought back a wealth of grace, love and experiences to share about the hopes and challenges that abound in Haiti.
While I'm here I hope to learn about the amazing work that has been done in partnership with the Methodist Church of Haiti and United Methodist Volunteers in Mission over the last three years. I also hope that the vision for the future of recovery efforts and community building will also be shared so that we can discern our future involvement. Over the next few days, I hope to share some of the information and knowledge that I gain through this experience.
Today I had the pleasure of going to the dedication of La Tremblay church. La Tremblay is outside of Port au Prince on a major highway. This dedication service was very special because three teams from Floris UMC helped build this church. It was an honor for me to be there representing Floris UMC at this event.
The church was packed for the three-hour long service. Choirs sang beautiful songs, new members were initiated into the congregation and communion was served. I understood very little of the Creole that was spoken, but I knew that is was spirit filled and God honoring.
Tomorrow we are meeting to discuss the many opportunities for continued partnership in Haiti. I pray that this time will be fruitful and blessed.
