Today I Saw God
Today I Saw God
When was the last time you saw God? I'm not talking about burning-bush-type-God sightings; I'm talking about those moments in life that cause you to pause and take a second breath because they are so beautiful that you cannot help but think that God is behind them.
I see God the most in my kids. When I've got them lying on their backs, feet up in the air, laughing so hard as I tickle their bellies. With smiles so big and laughter so loud that I look into their faces and see the face of God smiling back at me.
I see God at the beach. The unique and intricate designs on every different shell, the calming sound of ocean waves and the gorgeoussunsets remind me that God is in the details but also that God does not forget the big picture.
It can be easy to lose sight of God. If we aren't looking for God on a daily basis, the things of this world can become just that: things. And suddenly, it's not God we see anymore. We see dirty hands that are about to leave fingerprints on the glass door that we just washed an hour ago. We see a lawn that needs to be mowed that we JUST MOWED last week. We see emails piling up in our inbox waiting to be read.
I want to challenge you to look for God. For some of you, this will be easy. You already see God everywhere you look. I'd like to ask you to take a picture. For some of you, finding God will be a little harder. You might not see God everywhere you look. But there will be moments. And in those moments, I'd like to ask you to take a picture. Once you have those pictures of God, you can do two things with them:
- Share the pictures on Instagram using #TodayISawGod in the caption.
- Email the pictures to Susan Ward at , and your picture may be posted from the Floris Instagram account.
Finally, there might be some who want to look for God but do not have any idea where to start. I'd like to encourage you to see how other people see God by going to www.florisumc.org/todayIsawGod. Pictures with #TodayIsawGod in the caption will appear on this page (Note: if your Instagram account is set to private, your pictures will not appear on this page. If you do not want to change your privacy settings, but would like your pictures to be displayed on this page, please email them to Susan Ward at the email address listed above).
I hope you'll enjoy finding God in your life as much as I have. I'm excited to see your pictures.
