Today I Saw God
Welcome Home by Yoon Nam
Before I share what our music will be this coming week at worship, I would like to express my gratitude– from the bottom of my heart –to everyone involved with last week's Christmas Cantata. Thank you all so much for your help, your dedicated hearts, and your prayers.
Yes, this Sunday is our last Sunday of Advent which leads us to Christmas. Because the fourth Sunday of Advent lands on December 23 this year, we will have two different types of services on the same day. We will celebrate the last Advent in the morning on December 23, and then we will have Christmas Eve Eve service at 7:00 PM.
In the morning services, the Sonrise Singers will sing a beautiful carol, "Infant Holy, Infant Lowly" as an offertory. The Call to Harmony will sing, "Joseph's Lullaby" as an anthem at the 11:00 AM service, and Jack(cello) and Mark(trumpet) will play, " What is this Lovely Fragrance?" as an offertory.
At the Christmas Eve Eve service the choir and orchestra will lift up two songs from the Cantata, and the orchestra will play, "Christmas Bells" as an offertory. This service is identical to the one at 9:00 PM on Christmas Eve.
On Christmas Eve at the 5:00 PM service, you can hear the children's choir sing a joyful anthem "Arise, Shine, Jesus Has come," and a beautiful flute duet, "As I Wonder as I Wander" by two of our middle school students. The 11:00 PM service will be more solemn and intimate with communion; the Chamber Choir will sing three beautiful a capella songs and my husband Jason and I will sing, "O Holy Night" as a musical benediction.
There are many opportunities to come and worship at Floris this Season, and I pray that we all have an experience of being welcomed by love, comfort, and peace, fully aware of God's presence throughout these worship services.
