SUMMARY:Easter Food Drive
DESCRIPTION:Easter Food Drive\nFebruary 22\, 2026 – April 5\, 2026\n\nWhy This Matters\nYour donations will supply food to our neighbors through our Grace Ministries food distribution and a pop-up food distribution at Hutchison Elementary School. We also support Community of Faith UMC’s food pantry and the Cornerstones Food hub. \nThis initiative is a simple but meaningful way we can step in and help meet a practical need. \n\nWhat We’re Collecting\nIn response to the rise in food insecurity\, from February 22 through April 5\, Floris UMC will host a food drive to run the next several weeks Nov 16-Dec 14. Our goal is to get 100 of each item to use for a pop up food distribution at Hutchison ES .  Below is our preferred list of items. \nShopping List \n\nBag of Rice 1lb up to 5lb Bags\nPeanut Butter\nJelly\n5lb Bag of MASA\nSpaghetti 1lb\nSpaghetti Sauce Jars\nCanned Vegetables/Beans\nCanned Fruit\nCanned Chicken/Tuna\n24oz Cooking Oil\n\nThere will be blue bins available to collect these items in the gathering space Monday – Thursday 8:30am – 4:00pm and Sunday 7:00am – 1:00pm/ \n\nHow Your Donation Makes an Impact\nYour donation helps: \n\nStock pantry shelves for foster families\nReduce grocery expenses for caregivers\nSupport teens aging out of foster care\nEnsure reliable\, nutritious meals are available\n\nWhile a single can may feel small\, collective generosity adds up quickly. When we come together as a community\, we create real and lasting impact. \n\nHow to Participate\nBring your canned goods to the designated collection area anytime between February 22 and April 5\, 2026. \nConsider setting a reminder\, inviting your family to contribute\, or organizing a small group effort to maximize your impact. \nTogether\, we can offer more than food — we can offer care\, support\, and hope to our neighbors. Join us in making a difference this Easter season.

SUMMARY:Challenging Christian Nationalism
DESCRIPTION:Challenging Christian Nationalism\nA Learning Series with Guest Speaker and Workshops \nIn March\, Floris UMC invites adults to take part in Challenging Christian Nationalism\, a new in-person learning series designed to thoughtfully explore the relationship between Christian faith and nationalism in today’s social and political context. This series offers space for education\, reflection\, and respectful dialogue rooted in Christian values. \nThe series begins on March 1\, 2026\, with a special session featuring guest speaker David Carter\, followed by three facilitated workshops on March 15\, 22\, and 29. Each gathering will take place from 12:30 to 2:30 PM and is intended for adults seeking deeper understanding and meaningful conversation. \nWhat This Series Is About\nChristian Nationalism is a topic that raises important questions about faith\, identity\, power\, and public life. This series does not aim to provide simple answers. Instead\, it creates a space to: \n\nLearn from trusted voices and shared resources\nReflect on how faith informs public witness\nAsk thoughtful questions in a respectful environment\nListen to differing perspectives with curiosity and care\n\nThe opening session with David Carter will provide historical and theological context\, setting the foundation for the workshops that follow. The remaining sessions will invite participants into guided conversation\, allowing time to process\, reflect\, and engage more deeply with one another. \nWho Should Attend\nThis series is designed for adults who are: \n\nCurious about how Christian faith intersects with nationalism\nInterested in faith-based discussion on social issues\nSeeking respectful\, informed dialogue within a church setting\n\nNo prior knowledge is required\, only a willingness to listen and engage thoughtfully. \nRegistration Information\nThere is no cost to register. \n\nGuest Speaker Session (March 1):https://florisumc.infellowship.com/GroupSearch/ShowGroup/3407089\nWorkshops (March 15\, 22\, 29):https://florisumc.infellowship.com/GroupSearch/ShowGroup/3407090\n\nWe encourage participants to register for the appropriate sessions in advance to help with planning and facilitation. \nJoin the Conversation\nChallenging Christian Nationalism offers a meaningful opportunity to learn\, reflect\, and engage alongside others who care about faithful living in a complex world. We invite you to join us for this important series and be part of a thoughtful\, respectful community conversation.
