DESCRIPTION:Pride Alliance at Floris UMC\nThe Pride Alliance at Floris UMC is a vibrant\, welcoming community dedicated to fostering an inclusive and affirming environments for all individuals—regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. We believe that every person is a beloved child of God\, deserving of respect\, love\, and belonging. \nOur mission is to create meaningful change both within our church and across the broader United Methodist denomination. We work closely with the Floris UMC Church Council to offer thoughtful recommendations and to help carry out approved actions that reflect our core values of love\, justice\, and equality. From advocating for inclusive language and policies to supporting initiatives that remove discrimination against LGBTQ+ individuals\, our efforts are rooted in faith and guided by the desire to see every person welcomed fully into the life of the church. \nThe Pride Alliance also serves as a restoration ministry\, intentionally engaging in conversations and actions that address inequities and challenge barriers faced by LGBTQ+ members in the church. As part of our Faith250 Fellowship Night series\, we welcome the Floris UMC community on April 16 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM for a shared experience centered on listening\, learning\, and community-building. \nA Meaningful Moment\nThis gathering represents the third of four interfaith events created to bring people together across faith traditions during this once-in-a-generation moment in our nation’s history. It is an opportunity to pause\, reflect\, and engage with others as we consider both the promise and the complexity of the American story. \n<p “>Purpose of the Gathering\nTogether\, we aim to create a space where the richness of diverse perspectives is honored. Through open and guided conversation\, we will explore what it means to pursue a common good that is inclusive of the many identities\, beliefs\, and lived experiences that shape our democracy.
