DESCRIPTION:Pride Alliance at Floris UMC\nThe Pride Alliance at Floris UMC is a vibrant\, welcoming community dedicated to fostering an inclusive and affirming environments for all individuals—regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. We believe that every person is a beloved child of God\, deserving of respect\, love\, and belonging. \nOur mission is to create meaningful change both within our church and across the broader United Methodist denomination. We work closely with the Floris UMC Church Council to offer thoughtful recommendations and to help carry out approved actions that reflect our core values of love\, justice\, and equality. From advocating for inclusive language and policies to supporting initiatives that remove discrimination against LGBTQ+ individuals\, our efforts are rooted in faith and guided by the desire to see every person welcomed fully into the life of the church. \nThe Pride Alliance also serves as a restoration ministry\, intentionally engaging in conversations and actions that address inequities and challenge barriers faced by LGBTQ+ members in the church. Our work is both practical and spiritual: we advocate for systemic change while nurturing a safe\, supportive space for individuals to grow in their faith. \nMost importantly\, the Pride Alliance is a community of support\, love\, and healing. DESCRIPTION:Hiking for the Soul\nStep away from the busyness of everyday life and experience the peace of God’s creation with Hiking for the Soul\, a new monthly gathering sponsored by Floris UMC. Each hike is designed not only to get us moving outdoors\, but also to nourish our spirits through reflection\, prayer\, and community. \nEach month\, we meet at a local park for a short and accessible hike (about 1.5 miles)\, perfect for beginners or anyone who wants a relaxed outdoor activity. But Hiking for the Soul is more than exercise. It is a space to slow down\, notice the beauty around us\, and connect with God in meaningful ways. \nWe begin with a short reading or meditation to open our hearts to God’s presence in nature. Midway through the hike\, we pause for a simple grounding exercise that helps us center ourselves and fully embrace the moment. \nAfter the trail\, there is time for fellowship and sharing. Whether reflecting on the reading or simply enjoying conversation\, Hiking for the Soul builds community while offering spiritual renewal. \nUpcoming hikes: \n\nSunday\, April 26 at 2:00 PM – Ellanor C.
