DESCRIPTION:Western North Carolina Mission Trip \nFor over two decades\, Floris United Methodist Church has been answering the call to serve communities impacted by natural disasters. From hurricanes and flooding to tornadoes\, our mission teams have brought hope and help to areas across the country. Now\, we invite you to be part of our next journey—our Western North Carolina Mission Trip. \nFloris UMC has sent more than 60 teams to disaster-stricken areas in states like Mississippi\, Florida\, South Carolina\, North Carolina\, Kentucky\, New Jersey\, and New York. Over 600 volunteers have rolled up their sleeves\, built homes\, cleared debris\, and most importantly\, offered compassion to those in need. This work continues as long as there are communities in need of recovery. \nOur next UMVIM Team to Western North Carolina is May 31– June 5. Would you be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ for the thousands of folks displaced by the remnants of Hurricane Helene? Whether you are skilled in construction or have little or no experience\, your willingness to help will make a great difference. \nAll missioners must be 18+ or 16–18 if accompanied by a parent or designated chaperone\, and there’s no upper age limit—just bring your heart and hands ready to serve! From teens to retirees\, our teams are made up of people who simply want to make a tangible impact in the lives of others. \nJoin us as we continue this important work. DESCRIPTION:Parenting in Today’s World: A Faith-Centered Conversation\nEvent Overview\nRaising children today can feel both deeply meaningful and incredibly complex. We are inviting parents and caretakers of children ages 0–12 to join us for a welcoming space to share wisdom\, encouragement\, and real-life experiences in parenting. This gathering is designed to support those who are seeking to raise their children in a Christ-like and Christ-following way while navigating a world that looks very different from the one we grew up in. \nSession Dates\nAll sessions meet from 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm: \n\nSunday\, May 3\nSunday\, May 17\nSunday\, May 31\nSunday\, June 14\n\nA Space for Honest Conversation\nParenting doesn’t come with a simple roadmap; especially when balancing faith\, values\, and the realities of today’s culture. This event creates an environment where you can wrestle with those questions alongside others who understand the journey. Together\, we will explore what it means to model Christ in our homes\, have meaningful conversations with our children\, and approach parenting with both grace and intentionality. \nLed by Pastor Daniel\nEach session will be guided by Pastor Daniel\, offering thoughtful insight\, practical perspective\, and space for open discussion. Whether you’re navigating early childhood or the transitions that come with growing kids\, this is an opportunity to learn\, reflect\, and grow alongside a supportive community. \nFlexible and Welcoming\nWe understand that life is busy. While this is a multi-session experience\, you are not required to attend every session to participate. You are welcome to join whenever you are able. DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Holy Communion for Children\nWe are excited to offer an Introduction to Holy Communion class designed for children. This gathering provides a welcoming\, age-appropriate space for kids to learn about the sacrament through interactive\, hands-on experiences that engage all the senses. \nWhat to Expect\nChildren will explore the meaning of Holy Communion through stories\, activities\, and guided discussion. Our goal is to help them understand this important part of the Christian faith in a way that is meaningful\, memorable\, and easy to grasp. \nWho It’s For\nThis class is open to any child who wants to learn more about Holy Communion\, whether they are preparing to participate for the first time or simply curious to deepen their understanding. \nWhere and When\nWe will meet in Kid’s Crossing at the same time as the Christian Parenting session led by Pastor Daniel Cho\, making it easy for families to participate in both opportunities simultaneously. \nRegistration Required\nRegistration is required for this class.
