SUMMARY:Bible 101
DESCRIPTION:Bible 101\nGet to Know the Bible\nThe Bible is central to the Christian faith\, but knowing where to begin can sometimes feel overwhelming. How is the Bible organized? Who wrote it? How do all the different books\, stories\, and people fit together? And how can we better understand what we’re reading? \nBible 101 offers an approachable introduction to the Bible and the story it tells. Led by Bill Gray\, this four-week series will help you become more familiar with Scripture\, explore its major themes and stories\, and discover ways to engage with the Bible more confidently. \nExplore the Big Picture\nRather than simply reading individual passages\, Bible 101 gives you an opportunity to step back and see how the pieces fit together. We’ll explore the Bible’s overarching story while becoming more familiar with the people\, events\, themes\, and books that make up Scripture. \nTogether\, we’ll explore: \n\nHow the Bible is organized\nMajor stories and people throughout Scripture\nKey themes that run throughout the Bible\nHow the Old and New Testaments connect\nWays to approach and understand Scripture\nHow the Bible can shape our faith and everyday lives\n\nWhether you’re new to the Bible\, have been reading it for years\, or simply want a better understanding of the bigger picture\, there’s something here for you. \nAsk Questions. Learn Together.\nYou don’t need to be a Bible expert to participate. Bible 101 is a space to learn\, ask questions\, and explore Scripture alongside others. \nCome curious and ready to discover more about the Bible and the story at the heart of the Christian faith. \nJoin Us This Fall\nWednesdays\, September 23–October 14\nLed by Bill Gray \nSet aside four Wednesdays to explore the Bible from a fresh perspective and build a stronger foundation for engaging with Scripture. \nCome learn the story\, explore the Scriptures\, and discover how the Bible connects to your faith.

SUMMARY:UpsideDown Moments Clothing Drive
DESCRIPTION:UpsideDown Moments Clothing Drive\nSecond Sunday of Every Month \nA simple act of generosity can make a lasting difference in someone’s life. Each month\, Floris United Methodist Church invites you to participate in our UpsideDown Moments Clothing Drive\, an ongoing opportunity to share hope\, dignity\, and compassion with members of our community who are experiencing hardship. \nOn the second Sunday of every month\, we welcome donations of gently used clothing for individuals of all ages\, from infants to adults. Whether it’s children’s clothing that has been outgrown\, professional attire you no longer wear\, warm coats\, everyday essentials\, or seasonal apparel\, your donations can become a meaningful blessing to someone in need. \nCollected clothing is carefully gathered throughout the quarter and then distributed through Grace Ministry\, helping individuals and families access quality clothing in a welcoming and supportive environment. Your generosity not only helps meet a practical need but also reminds our neighbors that they are seen\, valued\, and loved. \nBefore donating\, please ensure that all clothing is clean\, in good condition\, and ready to be worn by its next owner. Thoughtfully donated items help us serve others with dignity while making the distribution process easier for our volunteers. \nThe UpsideDown Moments Clothing Drive is a wonderful way to practice faithful stewardship by giving new purpose to items you no longer need. Every donation\, no matter how small\, contributes to a larger mission of caring for our community and sharing Christ’s love through acts of service. \nJoin us each month and help make a difference—one article of clothing at a time. Together\, we can provide comfort\, encouragement\, and hope for those facing difficult circumstances. \nFor more information about the clothing drive or how you can get involved\, please contact Debbie Cali.

SUMMARY:HCW Mission Trip
DESCRIPTION:October Mission Trip: A Journey of Service\, Growth\, and Transformation\nTravel Dates: July 19 – August 1\nThe October Mission Trip is more than a travel experience—it is an invitation to step into a season of meaningful service\, deep connection\, and personal transformation. From July 19 through August 1\, participants will join together in a shared mission to serve communities\, build relationships\, and actively live out their faith in tangible ways. \nThis journey is designed for individuals who feel called to step outside of their everyday routines and into an experience that challenges\, stretches\, and renews them. Whether you are a seasoned mission participant or considering your very first trip\, this opportunity offers a powerful space to grow spiritually while making a real impact in the lives of others. \nThroughout the trip\, participants will engage in hands-on service projects that respond to the real needs of the community. These may include supporting local ministries\, assisting with outreach programs\, engaging in community development efforts\, and partnering with local leaders to strengthen ongoing initiatives. Each day will offer opportunities not only to serve\, but also to listen\, learn\, and build authentic relationships with the people and communities being served. \nIn addition to the service work\, this trip is also a deeply formative spiritual experience. Time will be set aside for reflection\, group connection\, prayer\, and debriefing\, allowing participants to process what they are seeing and experiencing together. Many who have participated in past mission trips describe the experience as life-shaping—marked by a renewed sense of purpose\, deeper faith\, and a clearer understanding of how they are called to serve in their everyday lives. \nThe October Mission Trip is also an opportunity to journey in community. You will not be going alone. You will be surrounded by a team of individuals who are also seeking growth\, connection\, and a deeper expression of faith through service. The relationships formed during this time often extend far beyond the trip itself. \nIf you are looking for an experience that will challenge your perspective\, deepen your faith\, and allow you to make a meaningful difference\, this mission trip may be the next step for you. \nTo learn more about past mission experiences and stories\, visit our Sierra Leone mission blog:https://www.florisumc.org/sierra-leone-mission-trip/#section-sierra-leone-blog \nFor broader information about our mission partnerships and trip overview\, visit:https://www.florisumc.org/sierra-leone-mission-trip/ \nJoin us July 19–August 1 as we step into a shared journey of service\, learning\, and transformation.

SUMMARY:Andrea Finch - What the Bees See
DESCRIPTION:Experience Art that Reveals Creation Through the Eyes of Bees\nThe Floris Art Gallery invites you to experience this month’s featured installation—What the Bees See—a vibrant and immersive exploration of the natural world through the perspective of bees. \nThis striking exhibit offers a fresh way of seeing creation\, drawing attention to the beauty\, complexity\, and quiet wonder found in flowers\, movement\, light\, and the delicate ecosystems that sustain life. Inspired by the unique vision and role of pollinators\, the installation encourages viewers to slow down and notice what is often overlooked in the world around us. \nThrough color\, texture\, and layered artistic expression\, the work reflects the rhythm of nature itself—how bees move with purpose\, gather with intention\, and participate in a cycle of growth and renewal that sustains the earth. Each piece becomes an invitation not only to observe\, but to reflect on the interconnectedness of creation and our place within it. \nAs you move through the gallery\, you’ll encounter a space designed for contemplation and curiosity. The installation invites you to engage your senses and consider how beauty is often revealed in the smallest details—in the patterns of petals\, the movement of wings\, and the quiet harmony of living systems working together. \nMore than an art display\, this exhibit is an experience of attention and awareness. Whether you are an art enthusiast\, a nature lover\, or simply seeking a moment of peace and inspiration\, What the Bees See offers a space to pause\, reflect\, and reconnect with the world in a meaningful way. \nWhen you visit the Floris Art Gallery this month\, you are invited into a moment of wonder—where creativity opens new ways of seeing and where the natural world becomes a source of reflection\, gratitude\, and awe. \nCome and experience art that draws you closer to creation\, to community\, and to the beauty that surrounds us every day. \nLearn more about this month’s exhibition and explore past featured exhibits on our Art Gallery page. \nThe Floris Art Gallery also welcomes artists in our community to share their gifts. If you are interested in submitting your own work for consideration\, we invite you to apply to exhibit with us. \nCome and experience art that draws you closer to God\, to creation\, and to community.
