SUMMARY:Earth Day: Battery Recycling
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Earth Day with Purpose\nJoin us in honoring Earth Day by making a meaningful impact in your community. Our Environmental Justice and Stewardship team is hosting a battery recycling event\, and you’re invited to take part in this simple yet powerful act of care for our planet. \nWhy Battery Recycling Matters\nMany household batteries end up in landfills\, where they can leak harmful chemicals into the soil and water. Recycling them properly helps reduce environmental harm and supports responsible stewardship of the resources we’ve been given. \nWhat to Bring\nWe welcome batteries of all sizes commonly used in the home\, from small everyday batteries to larger household types. Simply bring your used batteries and place them in the designated collection bins. Our team will take care of the rest. \nMake an Impact Together\nThis is a great opportunity to declutter your home while contributing to a healthier environment. It’s also a chance to come together as a community and live out our shared commitment to caring for creation. \nJoin Us\nWhether you’ve been saving up old batteries or just have a few to recycle\, every contribution makes a difference. Be part of this Earth Day effort and help us build a culture of stewardship and environmental responsibility.

SUMMARY:Spiritual Recovery Community
DESCRIPTION:Spiritual Recovery Community: Finding Healing After Church Hurt\nHave you walked away from a faith community or wrestled with the pain of high-control or fear-based religion? You are not alone—and your story matters. Many people carry wounds from spiritual environments that were meant to offer hope but instead left scars of judgment\, fear\, or exclusion. This event is designed with you in mind: a safe\, welcoming space to explore healthier ways of engaging with faith. \nOur time together will focus on topics specific to church-hurt\, spiritual trauma\, and the challenges of deconstructing harmful religious experiences. You’ll have the opportunity to share your frustrations\, ask questions\, and connect with others who understand what you’ve been through. Whether you’re still processing\, searching for new meaning\, or simply longing to be heard\, this is a place where your journey is honored without pressure or judgment. \nWe’ll strive for balance: combining thoughtful\, intellectual conversation about faith and spirituality with opportunities for personal and communal healing. This isn’t about quick fixes or forcing belief—it’s about holding space for honesty\, curiosity\, and growth. Together\, we’ll create a community where listening\, respect\, and compassion guide our conversations. \nIf you’ve ever felt silenced\, dismissed\, or misunderstood in your faith journey\, this gathering offers a chance to breathe\, reflect\, and rediscover hope in a healthier\, more life-giving form of spirituality. \nCome as you are. Bring your questions\, your doubts\, and your story.\n \nYou don’t have to navigate this alone—join us and find support among people who get it. \n\nWhen: 2nd & 4th Wednesdays\, September – June\nTime: 6:00 – 7:15 p.m.\nNot Meeting: November 26\, 2025 & December 24\, 2025\n\nRegister Now >

SUMMARY:Hiking for the Soul
DESCRIPTION:Hiking for the Soul\nStep away from the busyness of everyday life and experience the peace of God’s creation with Hiking for the Soul\, a new monthly gathering sponsored by Floris UMC. Each hike is designed not only to get us moving outdoors\, but also to nourish our spirits through reflection\, prayer\, and community. \nEach month\, we meet at a local park for a short and accessible hike (about 1.5 miles)\, perfect for beginners or anyone who wants a relaxed outdoor activity. But Hiking for the Soul is more than exercise. It is a space to slow down\, notice the beauty around us\, and connect with God in meaningful ways. \nWe begin with a short reading or meditation to open our hearts to God’s presence in nature. Midway through the hike\, we pause for a simple grounding exercise that helps us center ourselves and fully embrace the moment. \nAfter the trail\, there is time for fellowship and sharing. Whether reflecting on the reading or simply enjoying conversation\, Hiking for the Soul builds community while offering spiritual renewal. \nUpcoming hikes: \n\nSunday\, April 26 at 2:00 PM – Ellanor C.
