SUMMARY:Western North Carolina Mission Trip
DESCRIPTION:Western North Carolina Mission Trip \nFor over two decades\, Floris United Methodist Church has been answering the call to serve communities impacted by natural disasters. From hurricanes and flooding to tornadoes\, our mission teams have brought hope and help to areas across the country. Now\, we invite you to be part of our next journey—our Western North Carolina Mission Trip. \nFloris UMC has sent more than 60 teams to disaster-stricken areas in states like Mississippi\, Florida\, South Carolina\, North Carolina\, Kentucky\, New Jersey\, and New York. Over 600 volunteers have rolled up their sleeves\, built homes\, cleared debris\, and most importantly\, offered compassion to those in need. This work continues as long as there are communities in need of recovery. \nOur next UMVIM Team to Western North Carolina is October 11–16. Would you be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ for the thousands of folks displaced by the remnants of Hurricane Helene? Whether you are skilled in construction or have little or no experience\, your willingness to help will make a great difference. \nAll missioners must be 18+ or 16–18 if accompanied by a parent or designated chaperone\, and there’s no upper age limit—just bring your heart and hands ready to serve! From teens to retirees\, our teams are made up of people who simply want to make a tangible impact in the lives of others. \nJoin us as we continue this important work. Be the hands and feet of Christ in North Carolina. Come ready to work\, to serve\, and to grow in faith and fellowship. \nSign up or ask questions: Tim Wells\, cyacard@comcast.net\, 703-517-0183 \nRegistration is no longer open\, the team is ready to go!Dates: October 11–16\, 2026

SUMMARY:Rise Against Hunger Packaging Event
DESCRIPTION:Put Love Into Action\nWhat happens when we move from learning about an issue to doing something about it? \nWe lead with love. \nJoin us for a meaningful day of worship and service as we close out an impactful weekend focused on poverty\, food insecurity\, and the challenges facing our communities. Throughout the weekend\, we’ll have opportunities to learn\, listen\, understand\, and consider how we can make a difference. This Rise Against Hunger packaging event gives us the opportunity to take that learning one step further and put love into action. \nServe Together\nVolunteers of all ages will work together to package nutritious meals that will be distributed to communities experiencing hunger around the world. It’s a hands-on experience where your time and energy can make a tangible difference. \nMultiple packaging sessions will be available before and after the 9 and 11 a.m. worship services\, making it easy to participate as part of your Sunday. \nBring: \n\nYour family\nYour friends\nYour small group\nYour willingness to serve\nYour heart for making a difference\n\nNo special experience or skills are required. There’s a role for everyone\, whether this is your first service project or you’ve been volunteering for years. \nFrom Learning to Action\nThis weekend is designed to help us see more clearly\, care more deeply\, and respond more faithfully. \nThe Rise Against Hunger packaging event is a chance to take what we’ve learned about food insecurity and poverty and turn compassion into action. Together\, we can do more than talk about the challenges people face. We can roll up our sleeves and become part of the solution. \nAs we pack meals\, we’ll also experience the power of serving alongside one another. There will be opportunities to connect\, share conversation\, laugh\, and work toward a common purpose. \nLead With Love\nOur faith calls us to love our neighbors\, care for those in need\, and put compassion into practice. This event is one tangible way we can live that out. \nCome ready to worship.\nCome ready to serve.\nCome ready to connect.\nCome ready to lead with love. \nClose out the weekend by turning what you’ve learned into meaningful action and experience the joy of making an impact together. \nEvent Schedule\nSunday\, October 18\, 2026 \n\nSet Up: 6–7:30 a.m.\nPackaging Session 1: 7:30–8:30 a.m. – Space Available\nPackaging Session 2: 10–11 a.m. – Full\nPackaging Session 3: Noon–1 p.m. – Space Available\nClean Up: 1–1:30 p.m.\n\nRegister to Serve\nChoose the packaging session that works best for you and register to be part of this meaningful day of service. \nREGISTER NOW → \nJoin us for Rise Against Hunger and help put love into action.
