SUMMARY:WatchNight Service
DESCRIPTION:Ring in the New Year with Prayer\, Praise\, and Community at Our WatchNight Service\nAs the year comes to a close\, you are invited to gather with the South Asian Fellowship for a meaningful and joy-filled Watchnight Service. This special evening is open to everyone and offers a warm\, welcoming space to reflect\, renew\, and celebrate God’s faithfulness as we step into a brand-new year. \nWatchnight is a longstanding Christian tradition rooted in gratitude and hope. It’s a time to pause from the pace of the season\, look back on the blessings and challenges of the past year\, and center our hearts on God’s presence and guidance for the year ahead. Whether you come seeking quiet reflection\, uplifting worship\, or simply a community to celebrate with\, this service provides a beautiful opportunity to start the new year grounded in prayer. \nLed by the South Asian Fellowship\, the service will feature a rich blend of prayer\, praise\, and cultural expressions of worship. Expect heartfelt music\, moments of communal prayer\, and scripture that speaks to renewal and trust in God’s promises. The atmosphere is reverent yet joyful\, creating a powerful sense of unity as we welcome the year together. \nThis gathering is open to all\, regardless of background or previous experience with Watchnight traditions. Families\, friends\, individuals\, and newcomers are encouraged to attend and experience this meaningful time together. Come as you are and join a community of people seeking hope\, peace\, and God’s presence in the year to come. \nIf you have questions or would like more details about the service\, please contact Megan Dietrick at mdietrick@florisumc.org. She will be happy to provide additional information and help you plan your visit. \nStart your new year with intention\, connection\, and worship. We look forward to welcoming you to this special Watchnight Service.

SUMMARY:Darkness to Light: A Christmas Service of Reflection
DESCRIPTION:Darkness to Light: A Christmas Service of Reflection\nThe Christmas season is often filled with bright lights\, cheery songs\, ringing bells\, and the joyful expectation of celebration. While all of this can bring happiness\, it can also feel overwhelming or isolating. For some\, Christmas is a time to pause\, reflect\, and seek a deeper sense of peace and meaning. \nOur Darkness to Light service offers a quiet\, contemplative space to do just that. This special Christmas service is designed for anyone who wants to step away from the busyness of the season and enter a moment of calm\, faith\, and hope. Whether you are feeling anxious\, lonely\, or simply need a pause to connect with God\, this service provides a welcoming environment to experience the love and presence of Christ. \nDuring this service\, we come together as a community to reflect on the journey from darkness into the light of Christ. Through prayer\, scripture\, and gentle music\, participants are invited to acknowledge life’s challenges and find comfort in the promise of God’s peace. It is a time to slow down\, center your heart\, and remember the true meaning of Christmas beyond the celebrations and obligations. \nDarkness to Light is open to everyone — whether you are a longtime member\, a first-time visitor\, or someone seeking a moment of solace in the midst of the season. There are no expectations other than to show up\, breathe\, and be present. \n\nTake a pause this Christmas. Step into the quiet and allow yourself to be reminded that even in the darkest moments\, the light of Christ is with us\, offering hope\, comfort\, and love.

SUMMARY:F.I.S.H.
DESCRIPTION:F.I.S.H. (Fifth in Service for Him) \nFifth grade is an exciting time—it’s a year filled with growth\, new experiences\, and the beginning of deeper friendships. At Floris UMC\, we know this is also the perfect stage to help students discover the joy of serving others while building a community of their own. That’s why we created F.I.S.H. (Fifth in Service for Him)\, a ministry just for fifth graders. \nThrough F.I.S.H.\, students gather regularly to share in fun\, fellowship\, and meaningful service. Each month offers a new adventure—one that keeps kids excited to come back\, connect with friends\, and grow in their faith. One month might bring the thrill of a scavenger hunt or the laughter of a game night\, while another invites the group to roll up their sleeves for a hands-on service project that makes a difference in our local community. From progressive dinners to festive Christmas parties\, every event is designed to help kids form lasting memories while learning that following Jesus is both joyful and impactful. \nAt its heart\, F.I.S.H. is about connection—connection with peers\, connection with caring adult leaders\, and connection with God. Students will not only enjoy fun activities\, but also discover how their time\, talents\, and energy can serve others in meaningful ways. It’s a safe\, supportive environment where kids can be themselves\, build friendships\, and experience the values of compassion\, kindness\, and service in action. \nWe invite all fifth graders to come and see what F.I.S.H. is all about. Whether your child is new to Floris or has been part of our community for years\, they’ll find a welcoming space where they belong. Together\, we’ll laugh\, serve\, celebrate\, and grow—because following Christ is best done in community. \n👉 Ready to join us? SUMMARY:Spiritual Recovery Community
DESCRIPTION:Spiritual Recovery Community: Finding Healing After Church Hurt\nHave you walked away from a faith community or wrestled with the pain of high-control or fear-based religion? You are not alone—and your story matters. Many people carry wounds from spiritual environments that were meant to offer hope but instead left scars of judgment\, fear\, or exclusion. This event is designed with you in mind: a safe\, welcoming space to explore healthier ways of engaging with faith. \nOur time together will focus on topics specific to church-hurt\, spiritual trauma\, and the challenges of deconstructing harmful religious experiences. Whether you’re still processing\, searching for new meaning\, or simply longing to be heard\, this is a place where your journey is honored without pressure or judgment. \nWe’ll strive for balance: combining thoughtful\, intellectual conversation about faith and spirituality with opportunities for personal and communal healing. This isn’t about quick fixes or forcing belief—it’s about holding space for honesty\, curiosity\, and growth. Together\, we’ll create a community where listening\, respect\, and compassion guide our conversations. \nIf you’ve ever felt silenced\, dismissed\, or misunderstood in your faith journey\, this gathering offers a chance to breathe\, reflect\, and rediscover hope in a healthier\, more life-giving form of spirituality. \nCome as you are. Bring your questions\, your doubts\, and your story.\n \nYou don’t have to navigate this alone—join us and find support among people who get it. \n\nWhen: 2nd & 4th Wednesdays\, September – June\nTime: 6:00 – 7:15 p.m.\nNot Meeting: November 26\, 2025 & December 24\, 2025\n\nRegister Now >
