At Floris UMC\, we know this is also the perfect stage to help students discover the joy of serving others while building a community of their own. That’s why we created F.I.S.H. (Fifth in Service for Him)\, a ministry just for fifth graders. \nThrough F.I.S.H.\, students gather regularly to share in fun\, fellowship\, and meaningful service. Each month offers a new adventure—one that keeps kids excited to come back\, connect with friends\, and grow in their faith. One month might bring the thrill of a scavenger hunt or the laughter of a game night\, while another invites the group to roll up their sleeves for a hands-on service project that makes a difference in our local community. From progressive dinners to festive Christmas parties\, every event is designed to help kids form lasting memories while learning that following Jesus is both joyful and impactful. \nAt its heart\, F.I.S.H. is about connection—connection with peers\, connection with caring adult leaders\, and connection with God. Students will not only enjoy fun activities\, but also discover how their time\, talents\, and energy can serve others in meaningful ways. It’s a safe\, supportive environment where kids can be themselves\, build friendships\, and experience the values of compassion\, kindness\, and service in action. \nWe invite all fifth graders to come and see what F.I.S.H. is all about. All students in grades 6–12 are invited to join us for an evening of fun\, fellowship\, and festive spirit at our Student Caroling Night! \nWe’ll start the evening together in the Fellowship Hall at 5:00 p.m. with a delicious dinner and time to connect before heading out. After we’ve fueled up\, we’ll break into groups and travel to local neighborhoods to spread Christmas cheer through caroling. Whether you’re a confident singer or just love the holiday season\, your voice and your smile will help make someone’s night brighter! \nOnce we’ve shared our songs and laughter around the community\, we’ll return to the church for a cozy time of hot chocolate and warm fellowship. It’s the perfect way to wrap up an evening filled with joy\, friendship\, and the true spirit of Christmas. \nThis is a great opportunity to make memories with friends\, meet new people\, and bring light to others during the holiday season. On Sunday\, December 14\, both XRoads and Bright Life will host their annual White Elephant Gift Exchange and Christmas Party dinners during regular student ministry programming time. This evening is all about laughter\, community\, and embracing the joyful\, sometimes silly\, spirit of the season. \nXRoads Christmas Party — Fellowship HallStudents in XRoads are invited to the Fellowship Hall for a festive potluck-style Christmas dinner followed by the always-entertaining White Elephant Gift Exchange. Whether it’s a funny item\, a quirky find\, or something wonderfully random\, White Elephant gifts are meant to surprise and spark laughter. Students can bring a wrapped gift (around $5–10) and prepare for some friendly trading and lots of fun. Alongside the gift exchange\, families will contribute to a delicious potluck meal\, creating a warm\, communal holiday celebration. \nBright Life Christmas Party — The HangarBright Life students will gather in The Hangar for their own White Elephant Gift Exchange paired with a crowd-favorite dinner: a build-your-own Nacho Bar! DESCRIPTION:Hiking for the Soul\nStep away from the busyness of everyday life and experience the peace of God’s creation with Hiking for the Soul\, a new monthly gathering sponsored by Floris UMC. Each hike is designed not only to get us moving outdoors\, but also to nourish our spirits through reflection\, prayer\, and community. \nEach month\, we meet at a local park for a short and accessible hike (about 1.5 miles)\, perfect for beginners or anyone who wants a relaxed outdoor activity. But Hiking for the Soul is more than exercise. It is a space to slow down\, notice the beauty around us\, and connect with God in meaningful ways. \nWe begin with a short reading or meditation to open our hearts to God’s presence in nature. Midway through the hike\, we pause for a simple grounding exercise that helps us center ourselves and fully embrace the moment. \nAfter the trail\, there is time for fellowship and sharing.
