SUMMARY:F.I.S.H.
DESCRIPTION:F.I.S.H. (Fifth in Service for Him) \nFifth grade is an exciting time—it’s a year filled with growth\, new experiences\, and the beginning of deeper friendships. At Floris UMC\, we know this is also the perfect stage to help students discover the joy of serving others while building a community of their own. That’s why we created F.I.S.H. (Fifth in Service for Him)\, a ministry just for fifth graders. \nThrough F.I.S.H.\, students gather regularly to share in fun\, fellowship\, and meaningful service. Each month offers a new adventure—one that keeps kids excited to come back\, connect with friends\, and grow in their faith. One month might bring the thrill of a scavenger hunt or the laughter of a game night\, while another invites the group to roll up their sleeves for a hands-on service project that makes a difference in our local community. From progressive dinners to festive Christmas parties\, every event is designed to help kids form lasting memories while learning that following Jesus is both joyful and impactful. \nAt its heart\, F.I.S.H. is about connection—connection with peers\, connection with caring adult leaders\, and connection with God. Students will not only enjoy fun activities\, but also discover how their time\, talents\, and energy can serve others in meaningful ways. It’s a safe\, supportive environment where kids can be themselves\, build friendships\, and experience the values of compassion\, kindness\, and service in action. \nWe invite all fifth graders to come and see what F.I.S.H. is all about. Whether your child is new to Floris or has been part of our community for years\, they’ll find a welcoming space where they belong. Together\, we’ll laugh\, serve\, celebrate\, and grow—because following Christ is best done in community. \n👉 Ready to join us? Register today for F.I.S.H. and be part of the fun and service! \nRegister for February F.I.S.H. \nRegister for March F.I.S.H.

SUMMARY:Darkness to Light: A Christmas Service of Reflection
DESCRIPTION:Darkness to Light: A Christmas Service of Reflection\nThe Christmas season is often filled with bright lights\, cheery songs\, ringing bells\, and the joyful expectation of celebration. While all of this can bring happiness\, it can also feel overwhelming or isolating. For some\, Christmas is a time to pause\, reflect\, and seek a deeper sense of peace and meaning. \nOur Darkness to Light service offers a quiet\, contemplative space to do just that. This special Christmas service is designed for anyone who wants to step away from the busyness of the season and enter a moment of calm\, faith\, and hope. Whether you are feeling anxious\, lonely\, or simply need a pause to connect with God\, this service provides a welcoming environment to experience the love and presence of Christ. \nDuring this service\, we come together as a community to reflect on the journey from darkness into the light of Christ. Through prayer\, scripture\, and gentle music\, participants are invited to acknowledge life’s challenges and find comfort in the promise of God’s peace. It is a time to slow down\, center your heart\, and remember the true meaning of Christmas beyond the celebrations and obligations. \nDarkness to Light is open to everyone — whether you are a longtime member\, a first-time visitor\, or someone seeking a moment of solace in the midst of the season. There are no expectations other than to show up\, breathe\, and be present. \n\nTake a pause this Christmas. Step into the quiet and allow yourself to be reminded that even in the darkest moments\, the light of Christ is with us\, offering hope\, comfort\, and love.

SUMMARY:Through the Lens with Alexis Doty: Love\, Serve\, Lead
DESCRIPTION:Through the Lens: Love\, Serve\, Lead\nAn Art Gallery Experience Featuring the Work of Alexis Doty \nThrough the Lens is an immersive art gallery experience that invites viewers to slow down\, reflect\, and see the sacred in everyday moments. Featuring the photography and videography of Alexis Doty\, this exhibition highlights the quiet beauty\, honest emotion\, and powerful stories found within the life and ministry of Floris UMC. \nTitled Love\, Serve\, Lead\, this show explores what it means to live out faith through action. Each image captures moments of compassion\, service\, leadership\, and connection\, revealing how love is expressed not only through words\, but through presence\, care\, and community. From worship and fellowship to service and outreach\, Alexis’s work offers a visual narrative of a church actively living its calling. \nAs both a photographer and videographer at Floris UMC\, Alexis Doty brings a deeply personal and thoughtful perspective to her work. Her lens focuses on authenticity rather than perfection\, drawing attention to the small but meaningful interactions that often go unnoticed. These images invite viewers to pause\, look closer\, and consider how love\, service\, and leadership are embodied in everyday life. \nThrough the Lens is more than an art show. It is an invitation to reflect on our shared values and how they take shape in real people and real moments. Whether you are part of the Floris community or visiting for the first time\, this exhibition creates space for contemplation\, conversation\, and inspiration. \nGuests are encouraged to move through the gallery at their own pace\, allowing each piece to speak to them personally. The experience is designed to be accessible and welcoming to all\, offering a meaningful way to engage with art\, faith\, and community. \nTo learn more about upcoming exhibits and events\, visit our Art Gallery page. \nJoin us for Through the Lens: Love\, Serve\, Lead and experience a visual journey that celebrates the heart of Floris UMC.
