Through prayer\, scripture\, and music\, we lift our hearts to God and celebrate the love of Christ that unites us across cultures and languages. At the same time\, the fellowship component allows us to build lasting connections\, nurture friendships\, and encourage one another in faith. \nThis gathering isn’t just about attending a service or a program—it’s about being part of something larger: a community that reflects the beauty of God’s diverse family. We invite you to bring your family\, invite friends\, and come ready to experience the warmth of connection and the joy of worship. \nJoin us on the first Saturday of each month and be part of this meaningful celebration of faith and community. \nFor more information or if you have questions\, please contact Megan Dietrick.

SUMMARY:F.I.S.H.
DESCRIPTION:F.I.S.H. (Fifth in Service for Him) \nFifth grade is an exciting time—it’s a year filled with growth\, new experiences\, and the beginning of deeper friendships. At Floris UMC\, we know this is also the perfect stage to help students discover the joy of serving others while building a community of their own. That’s why we created F.I.S.H. (Fifth in Service for Him)\, a ministry just for fifth graders. \nThrough F.I.S.H.\, students gather regularly to share in fun\, fellowship\, and meaningful service. Each month offers a new adventure—one that keeps kids excited to come back\, connect with friends\, and grow in their faith. One month might bring the thrill of a scavenger hunt or the laughter of a game night\, while another invites the group to roll up their sleeves for a hands-on service project that makes a difference in our local community. From progressive dinners to festive Christmas parties\, every event is designed to help kids form lasting memories while learning that following Jesus is both joyful and impactful. \nAt its heart\, F.I.S.H. is about connection—connection with peers\, connection with caring adult leaders\, and connection with God. Students will not only enjoy fun activities\, but also discover how their time\, talents\, and energy can serve others in meaningful ways. It’s a safe\, supportive environment where kids can be themselves\, build friendships\, and experience the values of compassion\, kindness\, and service in action. \nWe invite all fifth graders to come and see what F.I.S.H. is all about. Whether your child is new to Floris or has been part of our community for years\, they’ll find a welcoming space where they belong. Together\, we’ll laugh\, serve\, celebrate\, and grow—because following Christ is best done in community. \n👉 Ready to join us? Register today for F.I.S.H. and be part of the fun and service! \nRegister for February F.I.S.H. \nRegister for March F.I.S.H.

DESCRIPTION:Artist Reception: Through the Lens: Love\, Serve\, Lead by Alexis Doty\nJoin us for a special Artist Reception honoring Alexis Doty\, Floris UMC’s photographer and videographer\, whose work has helped shape how our community’s story is seen and remembered. \nAlexis is a DMV native\, born and raised in Maryland\, with a lifelong passion for visual storytelling. She began working with video production in high school and has continued to grow that passion into meaningful\, purpose-driven work. Today\, she is the founder of two Herndon-based production companies\, F22 Video Solutions and Memory Lane Productions\, where she helps individuals and families preserve their stories and legacies in their own words. \nAt Floris UMC\, Alexis brings a deeply personal and thoughtful approach to photography and videography. Through her lens\, we see how faith is lived out through love in action. \nAlexis’s creativity is deeply connected to community. She supports several local nonprofits through their annual fundraisers\, assists with the NJROTC boosters at Herndon High School\, and balances her creative work with family life alongside her high school sweetheart and their children. \nThis artist reception offers a unique opportunity to connect with Alexis beyond the gallery walls.
