This special event is a meaningful way to recognize and support students as they prepare to head back to school\, reminding them that they are surrounded by a loving faith community every step of the way. \nAll children and youth are invited to bring their backpacks to worship on Sunday\, August 16\, during both services. During a special moment in the service\, we’ll offer a blessing over the students and their backpacks\, asking God to guide\, protect\, and encourage them throughout the school year. Each student will also receive a special tag to place on their backpack as a reminder that they are never alone on their journey. \nThis is a wonderful opportunity for families to begin the school year with a spirit of hope\, connection\, and encouragement. Whether your child is starting kindergarten\, heading into high school\, or somewhere in between\, we invite you to participate in this joyful and faith-filled tradition. \nLet’s send our students back to school surrounded by love and lifted in prayer!

DESCRIPTION:3rd Grade Bibles\nReceiving a Bible is an exciting milestone in a child’s faith journey\, and Floris is honored to celebrate this special moment with our families each year. \nAs children begin their third-grade school year\, Floris United Methodist Church provides each child with their very own Bible—a gift that will encourage them as they grow in their relationship with God and deepen their understanding of Scripture. Whether used during family devotions\, Sunday school\, or personal reading\, we hope this Bible becomes a treasured companion for years to come. \nIf your child is entering third grade\, we invite them to receive a Bible as part of this meaningful tradition. Children in fourth or fifth grade who did not receive a Bible during their third-grade year are also warmly invited to participate. \nParents and guardians are asked to complete the registration form below so we can prepare a Bible for each child. DESCRIPTION:Western North Carolina Mission Trip \nFor over two decades\, Floris United Methodist Church has been answering the call to serve communities impacted by natural disasters. From hurricanes and flooding to tornadoes\, our mission teams have brought hope and help to areas across the country. Now\, we invite you to be part of our next journey—our Western North Carolina Mission Trip. \nFloris UMC has sent more than 60 teams to disaster-stricken areas in states like Mississippi\, Florida\, South Carolina\, North Carolina\, Kentucky\, New Jersey\, and New York. Over 600 volunteers have rolled up their sleeves\, built homes\, cleared debris\, and most importantly\, offered compassion to those in need. This work continues as long as there are communities in need of recovery. \nOur next UMVIM Team to Western North Carolina is October 11–16. Would you be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ for the thousands of folks displaced by the remnants of Hurricane Helene?
