During a special moment in the service\, we’ll offer a blessing over the students and their backpacks\, asking God to guide\, protect\, and encourage them throughout the school year. Each student will also receive a special tag to place on their backpack as a reminder that they are never alone on their journey. \nThis is a wonderful opportunity for families to begin the school year with a spirit of hope\, connection\, and encouragement. Whether your child is starting kindergarten\, heading into high school\, or somewhere in between\, we invite you to participate in this joyful and faith-filled tradition. \nLet’s send our students back to school surrounded by love and lifted in prayer!

Blending United Methodist tradition with the vibrant expression of our diverse community\, this gathering creates space for both spiritual renewal and authentic connection. Whether you are new to the area\, exploring faith\, or looking for a community to call home\, you are warmly invited to participate and be part of this growing fellowship. \nFamilies will find this to be a meaningful space to introduce children to cultural traditions while also experiencing the joy of worship in a diverse and caring church family. This is more than a monthly program—it is a community rooted in belonging\, encouragement\, and shared faith. \nSpecial June Gathering – Offsite Picnic \nOn Saturday\, June 6\, the South Asian Worship & Fellowship group will meet off-site for a special family picnic at Lake Fairfax Park instead of their usual gathering at Floris UMC. DESCRIPTION:Western North Carolina Mission Trip \nFor over two decades\, Floris United Methodist Church has been answering the call to serve communities impacted by natural disasters. From hurricanes and flooding to tornadoes\, our mission teams have brought hope and help to areas across the country. Now\, we invite you to be part of our next journey—our Western North Carolina Mission Trip. \nFloris UMC has sent more than 60 teams to disaster-stricken areas in states like Mississippi\, Florida\, South Carolina\, North Carolina\, Kentucky\, New Jersey\, and New York. Over 600 volunteers have rolled up their sleeves\, built homes\, cleared debris\, and most importantly\, offered compassion to those in need. This work continues as long as there are communities in need of recovery. \nOur next UMVIM Team to Western North Carolina is October 11–16. Would you be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ for the thousands of folks displaced by the remnants of Hurricane Helene? Whether you are skilled in construction or have little or no experience\, your willingness to help will make a great difference. \nAll missioners must be 18+ or 16–18 if accompanied by a parent or designated chaperone\, and there’s no upper age limit—just bring your heart and hands ready to serve! DESCRIPTION:GRACE Ministries of the United Methodist Church is a mission project that serves low-income families in our community. It shares the gospel of God’s love through food clothing seven United Methodist churches in Northern Virginia. GRACE Ministries also provides Personal Care Aide (PCA) training Multicultural Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) training College Prep ESL classes for graduates of the CNA program These programs assist in easing emergency situations and create career opportunities in areas of significant workforce needs.
