SUMMARY:HHK Packaging
DESCRIPTION:HHK Packaging – Help Package Essentials \nNovember 16\, 202510:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. \nJoin us for an impactful\, hands-on opportunity to support families and children in our local community. Floris UMC partners with Herndon Helping Kids (HHK) to assemble care packages filled with essential items for students experiencing food insecurity and other challenges. These gatherings are energetic\, meaningful\, and an excellent way to serve alongside others who are passionate about loving our neighbors. \nHHK Packaging Events are simple\, high-impact service opportunities suitable for individuals\, families\, students\, and anyone with a heart to help. Volunteers will work together to sort\, prepare\, and package items that will be distributed through our community partnerships. Every bag packed makes an immediate difference for a local child. \nWe’ll be hosting this event on two separate dates: \n\nFriday\, October 17 — in The Hanger\nSunday\, November 16 — in the Fellowship Hall between morning worship services\n\nYou’re welcome to join one date or both. Come when you can and stay as long as you’re able within the scheduled session. No prior experience is needed\, and all supplies will be provided. \nNo Registration Required\nThis is a drop-in service opportunity. Simply show up\, check in with our volunteer leads\, and jump into the packing stations. We anticipate around 20 participants\, but additional hands are always welcome. \nWhy It Matters\nFood insecurity and limited access to essential supplies affect children right here in our community. By helping assemble HHK packages\, you are directly supporting our mission to Pour Out love through action and compassion. \nQuestions or Details\nCome help us bless our neighbors\, one package at a time. Your time\, energy\, and compassion truly matter! \nIf you have any questions about attendance\, registration\, or scheduling\, please reach out to her at dcali@florisumc.org

SUMMARY:Hiking for the Soul
DESCRIPTION:Hiking for the Soul\nStep away from the busyness of everyday life and experience the peace of God’s creation with Hiking for the Soul\, a new monthly gathering sponsored by Floris UMC. Each hike is designed not only to get us moving outdoors\, but also to nourish our spirits through reflection\, prayer\, and community. \nEach month\, we meet at a local park for a short and accessible hike (about 1.5 miles)\, perfect for beginners or anyone who wants a relaxed outdoor activity. But Hiking for the Soul is more than exercise. It is a space to slow down\, notice the beauty around us\, and connect with God in meaningful ways. \nWe begin with a short reading or meditation to open our hearts to God’s presence in nature. Midway through the hike\, we pause for a simple grounding exercise that helps us center ourselves and fully embrace the moment. \nAfter the trail\, there is time for fellowship and sharing. Whether reflecting on the reading or simply enjoying conversation\, Hiking for the Soul builds community while offering spiritual renewal. \nUpcoming hikes: \n\nSunday\, October 12 at 2:00 PM – Banshee Reeks | We’ll gather at the Nature Center parking lot for a scenic fall hike.\nSunday\, November 16 at 2:00 PM – Bull Run Park | We’ll meet at the Atlantis Water Park parking lot to enjoy the trails together.\n\nBring your walking shoes\, a water bottle\, and an open heart. Join us for Hiking for the Soul and discover how nature can refresh your spirit. \nRegister today to save your spot for October’s Hike! \nRegister today to save your spot for November’s Hike!

SUMMARY:F.I.S.H.
DESCRIPTION:F.I.S.H. (Fifth in Service for Him) \nFifth grade is an exciting time—it’s a year filled with growth\, new experiences\, and the beginning of deeper friendships. At Floris UMC\, we know this is also the perfect stage to help students discover the joy of serving others while building a community of their own. That’s why we created F.I.S.H. (Fifth in Service for Him)\, a ministry just for fifth graders. \nThrough F.I.S.H.\, students gather regularly to share in fun\, fellowship\, and meaningful service. Each month offers a new adventure—one that keeps kids excited to come back\, connect with friends\, and grow in their faith. One month might bring the thrill of a scavenger hunt or the laughter of a game night\, while another invites the group to roll up their sleeves for a hands-on service project that makes a difference in our local community. From progressive dinners to festive Christmas parties\, every event is designed to help kids form lasting memories while learning that following Jesus is both joyful and impactful. \nAt its heart\, F.I.S.H. is about connection—connection with peers\, connection with caring adult leaders\, and connection with God. Students will not only enjoy fun activities\, but also discover how their time\, talents\, and energy can serve others in meaningful ways. It’s a safe\, supportive environment where kids can be themselves\, build friendships\, and experience the values of compassion\, kindness\, and service in action. \nWe invite all fifth graders to come and see what F.I.S.H. is all about. Whether your child is new to Floris or has been part of our community for years\, they’ll find a welcoming space where they belong. Together\, we’ll laugh\, serve\, celebrate\, and grow—because following Christ is best done in community. \n👉 Ready to join us? Register today for F.I.S.H. and be part of the fun and service! \nRegister for February F.I.S.H. \nRegister for March F.I.S.H.
