SUMMARY:Grief to Peace
DESCRIPTION:Grief to Peace\nGrief can change the way we see the world. When you’re grieving the loss of someone you love\, you may find yourself carrying emotions\, questions\, and experiences that are difficult to navigate alone. Grief to Peace is a six-week support group at Floris designed to provide a caring space for those walking through grief and seeking hope\, connection\, and peace. \nBeginning October 14\, this weekly group will bring people together to share\, listen\, reflect\, and explore faith in the midst of loss. Whether your grief is recent or you’ve been carrying it for some time\, you are welcome. \nA Place to Grieve Together\nGrief doesn’t follow a predictable timeline\, and there is no single right way to experience it. Grief to Peace offers an opportunity to connect with others who understand the challenges of losing someone important. \nEach gathering incorporates: \n\nScripture study to explore faith and hope in the midst of grief\nWhole-group discussion and opportunities to listen and connect\nPersonal sharing for those who feel comfortable participating\nPrayer and space for reflection\n\nYou are never required to share more than you’re comfortable sharing. Sometimes simply being in a room with others who understand can be meaningful. \nFinding Hope in the Journey\nGrief can feel isolating\, but you don’t have to walk through it alone. Together\, we’ll create space for honest conversations about loss while exploring the ways faith can offer comfort\, strength\, and hope. \nThis group isn’t about rushing through grief or finding quick answers. It’s about making room for the experience of loss while being supported by a caring community. \nOver six weeks\, participants will have the opportunity to build connections\, reflect on their experiences\, and explore what it means to move toward peace while continuing to honor the people and relationships they have lost. \nJoin Us This Fall\nGrief to Peace meets Wednesdays from 7–8:30 p.m.\, October 14 through November 18\, 2026\, at Floris UMC. \nThe group is limited to a small number of participants to help create an environment where meaningful connection and conversation can take place. Registration is required. \nIf you or someone you know is grieving the loss of a loved one\, we invite you to take this step toward connection and support. \nYou don’t have to have everything figured out. You simply have to show up. \nCome as you are. Grieve together. Find connection. Explore hope. Move toward peace. \nRegister for Grief to Peace\nRegistration is open through October 16\, 2026. There is no cost to participate. \nRegister Here >

SUMMARY:Hiking for the Soul
DESCRIPTION:Hiking for the Soul\nStep away from the busyness of everyday life and experience the peace of God’s creation with Hiking for the Soul\, a new monthly gathering sponsored by Floris UMC. Each hike is designed not only to get us moving outdoors\, but also to nourish our spirits through reflection\, prayer\, and community. \nEach month\, we meet at a local park for a short and accessible hike (about 1.5 miles)\, perfect for beginners or anyone who wants a relaxed outdoor activity. But Hiking for the Soul is more than exercise. It is a space to slow down\, notice the beauty around us\, and connect with God in meaningful ways. \nWe begin with a short reading or meditation to open our hearts to God’s presence in nature. Midway through the hike\, we pause for a simple grounding exercise that helps us center ourselves and fully embrace the moment. \nAfter the trail\, there is time for fellowship and sharing. Whether reflecting on the reading or simply enjoying conversation\, Hiking for the Soul builds community while offering spiritual renewal. \nUpcoming hikes: \n\nSaturday\, October 25 at 2:00 PM – Manassas Stone Bridge Trail | 1.3 mile hike\nSaturday\, November 8 at 2:00 PM – Burke Lake Park | 1.8 mile hike\n\nBring your walking shoes\, a water bottle\, and an open heart. SUMMARY:Reclaiming the Heart of Methodism Book Study
DESCRIPTION:Reclaiming the Heart of Methodism Book Study\nWhat does it mean to live out the heart of Methodism in the 21st century? \nJoin us on Sunday\, October 4\, between services in the Fellowship Hall (FH) for a video presentation featuring Ashley Boggan\, author of Wesleyan Vitality: Reclaiming the Heart of Methodist Identity. This presentation invites us to look back at the roots of the Methodist movement and consider what John Wesley’s faith\, ministry\, and response to the Holy Spirit might have to say to us today. \nNo registration is needed for the October 4 video presentation. Simply stay after the 9am service or attend before the 11 am service and join the congregation for this opportunity to learn\, reflect\, and explore the Methodist tradition together. \nGo Deeper Through the Book Study\nThe conversation will continue beginning Monday\, October 12\, with a six-week book study led by Meredith Vines-Hall and Ted Pauls. \nTogether\, we’ll explore Wesleyan Vitality: Reclaiming the Heart of Methodist Identity and consider what it means to engage our Wesleyan heritage in a 21st-century world. \nThe book takes us back to the beginning of the Methodist movement and to John Wesley’s call by the Holy Spirit. It is an opportunity to consider how the heart of the Wesleyan tradition continues to speak to our lives and our community of faith. \nOver six weeks\, we’ll read\, discuss\, ask questions\, and explore what it might look like to reclaim the vitality at the heart of our Methodist identity. \nCome for the video presentation\, and participate in the six-week book study. the conversation. \nWatch.
