SUMMARY:Art Gallery: Altered Perception by Linda Syverson Guild
DESCRIPTION:Altered Perception: By Linda Syverson Guild\nDiscover the art of seeing familiar materials in entirely new ways. \nFloris is pleased to welcome artist Linda Syverson Guild and her exhibition\, Altered Perception\, featuring a collection of quilt-inspired artwork that invites viewers to look beyond traditional expectations of textile art. \nThrough her creative approach to quilting\, Linda transforms fabric\, color\, pattern\, and texture into works of art that challenge the way we see and experience familiar materials. Her work encourages viewers to consider how individual elements come together to create something unexpected\, turning everyday textiles into expressions of creativity\, perspective\, and artistic exploration. \nQuilting has a rich tradition rooted in craftsmanship\, storytelling\, and the thoughtful arrangement of materials. In Altered Perception\, that tradition becomes an opportunity to explore new possibilities. By reimagining the relationship between fabric\, design\, and visual composition\, Linda invites viewers to look more closely at the details\, discover unexpected connections\, and appreciate the artistry found in each piece. \nAs you explore the exhibition\, take time to notice the interplay of colors\, shapes\, patterns\, and textures. Each work offers an opportunity to experience familiar materials from a different perspective and consider how a shift in perception can transform the ordinary into something extraordinary. \nAltered Perception is more than an exhibition of quilt work. It is an invitation to slow down\, embrace creativity\, and discover the artistic possibilities that emerge when we are willing to see things differently. \nWhether you appreciate textile arts\, enjoy exploring new forms of artistic expression\, or simply want to experience something inspiring\, Altered Perception offers a fresh perspective and an opportunity to engage with art in an unexpected way. \nCome experience Altered Perception by Linda Syverson Guild and discover how fabric\, imagination\, and artistic vision come together throughout the gallery. \nExplore the Floris Art Gallery to learn more about Altered Perception and the artists who have been featured in the gallery. \nVisit the Floris Art Gallery → \nLearn more about the artist: Visit Linda Syverson Guild’s website →

SUMMARY:Advent Food Drive
DESCRIPTION:Share Hope This Advent: Join Our Advent Food Drive\nNovember 29-December 20\nAdvent is a season of hope\, love\, peace\, and generosity. As we prepare our hearts for the celebration of Christ’s birth\, we invite you to put faith into action by participating in our Advent Food Drive. \nThis seasonal food collection brings our congregation together to support individuals and families in need throughout our community. By donating nonperishable food items\, you can help provide essential nourishment to our neighbors and remind them that they are not alone. \nGive the Gift of Nourishment\nFor many individuals and families\, access to food can be a daily challenge\, especially during the holiday season. Our Advent Food Drive offers a meaningful opportunity to help meet this need while sharing the compassion and love at the heart of the Christmas season. \nEvery donation\, no matter the size\, can make a difference. A few cans of vegetables\, a box of pasta\, or a package of rice may seem like a small contribution\, but together\, our gifts can help provide meals and bring comfort to those facing food insecurity. \nYou do not have to make a large donation to have a meaningful impact. Every item given is an opportunity to care for our neighbors and serve our community. \nPut Your Faith Into Action\nThroughout Advent\, we remember the hope and love Jesus brings into the world. The Advent Food Drive is one way we can reflect that love through practical acts of kindness and service. \nWhether you contribute a few pantry staples or encourage your family and friends to participate\, you are helping build a community where people care for one another. This is an opportunity for individuals and families of all ages to embrace the spirit of giving and make generosity part of their Advent traditions. \nAs we prepare to celebrate Christmas\, let’s remember that the season is about more than the gifts we exchange. It is also about the love we share\, the needs we help meet\, and the hope we bring to others. \nItems Needed for Our Advent Food Drive\nHelp us nourish our neighbors this Advent season by donating the following nonperishable food items. Every contribution makes a difference! \n\nRice: 1–5 lb bags\nPeanut butter\nJelly\nMasa: 5 lb bags\nSpaghetti: 1 lb packages\nSpaghetti sauce: Jars\nCanned vegetables and beans\nCanned fruit\nCanned chicken or tuna\nCooking oil: 24 oz bottles\n\nThank you for your generosity and for helping us share hope and care with individuals and families in our community! \nHow to Donate\nYou can support the Advent Food Drive by donating nonperishable food items during our collection hours\, November 29-December 20. Consider checking your pantry\, adding a few extra items to your grocery list\, or inviting others to join you in giving. There will be blue bins  available to collect items in the gathering space. \nFood collection hours: \n\nMonday–Thursday: 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m.\nSunday: 7:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.\n\nPlease plan your drop-off during these designated hours. Contact Debbie Cali for more information. \nShare Hope This Advent\nAs we prepare to celebrate Christmas\, let’s remember that even a small act of generosity can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life. \nTogether\, we can nourish our neighbors\, strengthen our community\, and share the love of Christ\, one donation at a time. Thank you for being part of this season of giving and for helping make our community a place of compassion\, generosity\, and care.

SUMMARY:Happy Birthday Jesus
DESCRIPTION:Happy Birthday Jesus\nCelebrate the greatest gift of all this Christmas! \nChristmas is a season filled with excitement\, joyful traditions\, and special moments with family and friends. At the heart of it all is the birth of Jesus\, God’s greatest gift to the world. This Christmas\, children are invited to celebrate that gift at our Happy Birthday Jesus Party during Kid Nation at both services! \nThis special celebration is a fun opportunity for children to enjoy the Christmas season while remembering why we celebrate in the first place. Amid the decorations\, presents\, and holiday excitement\, the Happy Birthday Jesus Party brings the focus back to the story of Jesus and the love\, hope\, and joy He brings into our lives. \nA Christmas Celebration for Kids\nChristmas is especially exciting for children\, and the Happy Birthday Jesus Party gives them a chance to celebrate in a way that is fun\, memorable\, and centered on faith. During Kid Nation\, children will have an opportunity to take part in this special birthday celebration as we remember the birth of Jesus and the incredible gift God shared with the world. \nJust as birthdays give us a chance to celebrate someone special\, this party helps children recognize that Jesus is at the center of Christmas. It’s an opportunity to connect the excitement of the season with the meaning behind our favorite holiday traditions. \nRemembering the Reason for the Season\nWith so much happening during the holidays\, it’s easy to get caught up in the festivities. The Happy Birthday Jesus Party offers a meaningful reminder that Christmas is about more than gifts\, decorations\, and celebrations. It’s about God’s love for us\, revealed through the birth of Jesus. \nAs children celebrate together\, they can grow in their understanding of the Christmas story and the joy of welcoming Jesus into their hearts. These early experiences help make faith meaningful and create positive memories connected to the story of Christ’s birth. \nJoin the Celebration!\nWe look forward to celebrating Jesus’ birthday with our Kid Nation children this Christmas! The Happy Birthday Jesus Party will take place during Kid Nation at both services\, giving children attending either service an opportunity to join in the fun. \nBring your little ones ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus and remember the greatest gift of all. We can’t wait to share this special Christmas moment with our Kid Nation families! \nLet’s celebrate Jesus together and remember the true joy of Christmas!
