SUMMARY:Spiritual Recovery Community
DESCRIPTION:Spiritual Recovery Community: Finding Healing After Church Hurt\nHave you walked away from a faith community or wrestled with the pain of high-control or fear-based religion? You are not alone—and your story matters. Many people carry wounds from spiritual environments that were meant to offer hope but instead left scars of judgment\, fear\, or exclusion. This event is designed with you in mind: a safe\, welcoming space to explore healthier ways of engaging with faith. \nOur time together will focus on topics specific to church-hurt\, spiritual trauma\, and the challenges of deconstructing harmful religious experiences. You’ll have the opportunity to share your frustrations\, ask questions\, and connect with others who understand what you’ve been through. Whether you’re still processing\, searching for new meaning\, or simply longing to be heard\, this is a place where your journey is honored without pressure or judgment. \nWe’ll strive for balance: combining thoughtful\, intellectual conversation about faith and spirituality with opportunities for personal and communal healing. This isn’t about quick fixes or forcing belief—it’s about holding space for honesty\, curiosity\, and growth. Together\, we’ll create a community where listening\, respect\, and compassion guide our conversations. \nIf you’ve ever felt silenced\, dismissed\, or misunderstood in your faith journey\, this gathering offers a chance to breathe\, reflect\, and rediscover hope in a healthier\, more life-giving form of spirituality. \nCome as you are. Bring your questions\, your doubts\, and your story.\n \nYou don’t have to navigate this alone—join us and find support among people who get it. \n\nWhen: 2nd & 4th Wednesdays\, September – June\nTime: 6:00 – 7:15 p.m.\nNot Meeting: November 26\, 2025 & December 24\, 2025\n\nRegister Now >

SUMMARY:Coffee Hours: Ask an *Almost* Pastor
DESCRIPTION:Coffee Hours: Ask an *Almost* Pastor\nHave you ever had a question about faith\, life\, or the Bible and wished you had a safe space to ask it? Maybe you’ve wondered about how to pray\, what a particular scripture means\, or how to navigate life’s challenges through the lens of faith. Or maybe you just need a place to pause at the end of the week with a good cup of coffee and a little community. \nThat’s exactly what “Almost Rev. Meg” Coffee Conversations is all about. Each Friday afternoon from 1–4 p.m.\, (October 3\, 2025 at 2-4 p.m.) join Almost Rev. Meg at Meanwhile Coffee in Woodland Crossing (2309 Woodland Crossing Dr\, Herndon\, VA) for an open\, welcoming time of conversation and connection. \nBring your toughest questions—Meg can promise you plenty of almost-answers! You don’t need to prepare anything in advance; just come as you are. Whether your questions are about the Bible\, daily life\, or where faith intersects with culture\, this is a space to ask honestly\, wonder together\, and share perspectives without pressure. \nNot in the mood for questions? That’s okay too! This gathering is also a casual co-working opportunity. Bring your laptop\, grab a latte\, and settle in alongside other Floris folks. You’ll find a supportive\, relaxed environment where you can catch up on work\, enjoy good company\, or simply take a breather. \nThis weekly meetup is about more than coffee—it’s about building community. It’s about creating room for curiosity\, for laughter\, and for being together outside of Sunday morning. Whether you come once or make it a regular Friday ritual\, you’ll find a warm welcome and a fresh perspective. \nSo\, mark your calendar\, bring your questions (or your to-do list)\, and join us. See you Fridays at Meanwhile Coffee!\nWant more ways to connect? \nExplore other Groups at Floris or check out upcoming Church Events.

SUMMARY:Hiking for the Soul
DESCRIPTION:Hiking for the Soul\nStep away from the busyness of everyday life and experience the peace of God’s creation with Hiking for the Soul\, a new monthly gathering sponsored by Floris UMC. Whether reflecting on the reading or simply enjoying conversation\, Hiking for the Soul builds community while offering spiritual renewal. \nUpcoming hikes: \n\nSunday\, October 12 at 2:00 PM – Banshee Reeks | We’ll gather at the Nature Center parking lot for a scenic fall hike.\nSunday\, November 16 at 2:00 PM – Bull Run Park | We’ll meet at the Atlantis Water Park parking lot to enjoy the trails together.\n\nBring your walking shoes\, a water bottle\, and an open heart.
