Today I Saw God

eNews from Rev. Tom Berlin September 25, 2012

Dear Floris Family,

Today we learned of a tragedy in our community. A family of four was found dead at 13391 Point Rider Lane, Herndon. While the names of the family members have not been released by the police or press at this time, this is the home of Al and Kathie Peterson, who have two sons, Christopher and Matthew. The Peterson family has attended Floris and their son, Chris, attended our recent Road Rules event with our student ministry. Many of you will know this family. Their sons were students at Rachel Carson Middle School and Westfield High School and played soccer, as well as participating in other events in the community. I just left the home of some Floris members who were a part of one of these soccer teams. Everyone is feeling a great deal of grief over this loss and are searching for answers that are not known at this time.

It is our desire at Floris to minister to the needs of our community. We will be holding a Candlelight Vigil at Floris tomorrow, Wednesday, September 26 at 7:30 p.m. Please invite the community and post this information where others can see it. Our desire is to provide a place where our members, friends, and community can gather to express their grief, pray, and stand in the light of God's love and hope together. I will share more information regarding this service tomorrow.

In Christ,
– Tom
