Dear Floris Family,

It was a great weekend in the life of Floris Church. It was Confirmation weekend and on Saturday evening and Sunday, 55 students were confirmed and are now members of Floris UMC. Thank you to the 10 small group leaders, 55 mentors, 34 retreat leaders and other volunteers who made it possible for these students to take this important step in their faith journey. Thanks most of all to the students, who put so much time and effort into the process, were committed learners and who were confirmed Saturday and Sunday.

Last Saturday morning was the Footprints for Hope walk/run. More than 50 volunteers and 240 walkers or runners participated, including many people and families from Floris. Footprints for Hope raised more than $32,000 which will bless many people in our community through Connections for Hope and its partners.

Floris 101 This Sunday
We have a new way for you to hear about the ministry of Floris UMC. This Sunday we are offering an opportunity to take a guided tour through the building and hear about all that is happening here through the week. This is not a tour of the facility as much as a tour of the ministry you make happen at Floris. This is a great way to get acquainted with Floris beyond Sunday morning worship. Join us in Fellowship Hall right after the 11 AM service. Another opportunity to learn more about Floris is to look at the Annual Report that is available in electronic formor in hard copy at the Connection Desk in the Gathering Space.

Cuba Mission Team and UMVIM Leader Training
A mission team is scheduled to leave for Cuba tomorrow. The team will be led by Aldo and Susan Gonzalez and includes Floris members and people from other churches in Virginia. Please keep them in your prayers as they work with the United Methodist Church in Cuba. Floris also sends United Methodist Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) teams to Sierra Leone and Haiti each year. If you’ve felt the call to lead one of these teams, you’ll want to attend UMVIM Leader Training held here at Floris on Saturday, June 2, 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. For more information or to register.

This Week in Worship
Sunday we continue our current sermon series, Hearing God Speak. This week we will try to understand God’s will in three dimensions: God’s Perfect Will, God’s Circumstantial Will and God’s Ultimate Will. Join me as we talk about God’s will for you. Scripture: Romans 8:26-28.

In Christ,
– Tom
