Bread Sunday: Bake, Share, and Inspire
Bread is more than food—it’s a universal symbol of community, hospitality, and nourishment. That’s why we’re celebrating Bread Sunday as part of the Floris Feeds the World campaign—and we want you to be part of it!
Here’s how it works: bake your own bread at home. It could be your favorite family recipe, a new bread you’ve always wanted to try, or a loaf inspired by a culture around the world. Then, bring your bread to church on Bread Sunday to share with others after worship. Together we’ll enjoy breads from many traditions, experiencing the beauty of hospitality and community around the table.
If you’re part of our online community, you can still join in! Take a photo of your creation and post it on social media. Be sure to tag Floris UMC and use our campaign hashtag #FlorisFeeds40K so your bread can inspire others.
Bread connects us to our global neighbors. Around the world, families gather with many different kinds of bread—baguettes, tortillas, injera, naan, flatbreads—and each carries its own story. Just as bread nourishes the body, every meal packaged through Rise Against Hunger nourishes a child, a family, or a community in need.
By participating in Bread Sunday, you’re not just baking—you’re spreading awareness, sharing joy, and helping to feed thousands. And don’t forget to check back here to see our community bread gallery, featuring photos from across the congregation. It will be a celebration of creativity, generosity, and the spirit of coming together for a greater purpose.
So, preheat the oven, gather your loved ones, and join us for Bread Sunday. Together, let’s turn something as simple as bread into a movement of hope and nourishment for the world.
