ABOUT THE SUMMER MISSION TRIP
Students will spend a week in Romney, WV; led by the Jeremiah Project. Each day will be interwoven with devotion, reflection, worship and labor out of love. Students will learn basic building and home remodeling skills; the fruit of their work directly impacts others–keeping those they labor for warmer, safer and drier. At the beginning of each day, students will enjoy morning devotional; each day will end with worship, games and small groups. For more details about the experience, visit the Jeremiah Project website.
IMPORTANT PRE-TRIP INFORMATION
Pre-trip meetings are crucial and have a profound and positive impact on your student’s experience. The JP work camp is the goal—the Boston Marathon, if you will—and the pre-trip meetings are the training. When a runner signs up for the Boston Marathon, they make sure they are physically and emotionally prepared for the event before they arrive on race day. In the same way, the pre-trip meetings are designed to help students encounter, wrestle with and integrate the idea of service ahead of the trip. We believe this pre-trip works leads to a deeper mission experience.
Make sure to mark your calendar with these mandatory pre-trip meetings:
Sunday, May 31 — 12:30-2 p.m.
Sunday, June 14 — 12:30-2 p.m.
There will be a car wash on Saturday, May 2, 12-3 p.m. Missioners will definitely want to support their own trip by offering washing services on a donation basis.
MUST COMPLETE FORMS
There are two emergency release forms that we will need parents to complete. Please review and learn how to submit each of the following below:
The total cost of the trip is $500. A non-refundable $250 deposit is required upon registration.
Scholarships are available; we would not wish for a student who is committed to attending and being engaged to be discouraged from registering if costs are prohibitive. Please contact Pepe Miller (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Danielle Light (email@example.com) to discuss finances.
ADULT MISSIONER INTEREST
Adults who attend JP get the full immersion experience! You will accompany students to morning and evening devotion and worship and work the basic construction projects, alongside students during the day. There is ample time in the afternoon and evening for downtime or hanging out with and enjoying the company of the students–whatever your choose. For more information about a day in the life at JP, visit this webpage and scroll down to the “A Typical Day at JP” section.
If you are interested in attending as an adult or would like to know more, please register your interest here.
