Messy Church – Little Lights & Holy Bites
Join us for a special evening of food, fellowship, and fun! At this Messy Church event, we’ll dive into the meaning behind two important parts of worship: 🕯 Acolytes (our “Little Lights”) – why they carry the light of Christ into worship. 🍞 Holy Communion (our “Holy Bites”) – what it means and why we celebrate it together. After a delicious family-friendly dinner, we’ll enjoy hands-on activities, fellowship, and learning that will help kids and families understand why these elements are central to our worship service. Bring the whole family—everyone is welcome at the table!
This evening is designed to be engaging for all ages. Children will have the chance to see the “Little Lights” in action and learn how acolytes help lead our worship while symbolizing the light of Christ in our lives. Through fun, interactive demonstrations and conversations, families will explore how even small acts of service and participation can make a meaningful difference in the church community.
We’ll also focus on Holy Communion, or the “Holy Bites,” providing an approachable way for kids and adults to understand this sacred tradition. Through stories, discussion, and hands-on experiences, participants will discover the spiritual significance behind the bread and cup, and why sharing this meal is central to our faith.
Beyond the learning, this is a time to connect with others in the Floris UMC community. Enjoy a warm, family-style dinner, make new friends, and take part in creative, faith-centered activities designed to inspire curiosity, reflection, and joy. It’s an opportunity to experience worship in a relaxed and welcoming environment, where families can grow together spiritually and socially.
