About Rev. Drew VanDyke Colby

Drew is a lifelong United Methodist, the middle child of two United Methodist pastors. He is a graduate of The College of William and Mary where he met his wife, Allison. Drew went on to earn a master’s degree in music at Shenandoah Conservatory. It was while working as a church musician and part-time youth minister that Drew discerned a call to ordained ministry. Drew attended Wesley Seminary and began pastoral ministry in 2012. Through the years Drew has worked as a Church Choir Director, Church Secretary, Director of Christian Education, Youth Minister, Director of Missions, Associate Pastor, and most recently has served seven years as the Senior Pastor of Grace UMC in Manassas, VA. Drew is active with the Virginia Academy for Spiritual Formation and is currently finishing a fellowship with the Iowa Preachers

Project. Drew is also the co-host of a children’s Bible Story podcast called Minivangelism which features bible story songs written by Drew intended for young listeners who are learning about God through scripture.

Drew’s wife Allison is a Physician Assistant finishing her doctorate in Spring 2026 and completing her first year on faculty at George Washington University’s PA school. Allison is a gifted clinician and educator with a calling to offer high quality healthcare to all, especially the underserved. Allie and Drew have three children, Hannah (11), Miriam (8), and Joshua (5, and he goes by JJ). Together they enjoy time with family and friends, good food, good music, playing games, being outdoors, and making each other laugh.

As a pastor, Drew is a self-described Theology/Bible-nerd. He sees the gospel of Jesus Christ as the foundation for all church ministry, and values “keeping the main thing the main thing.” His leadership style is gracious, collaborative, and caring while valuing healthy systems, good planning, and hard work. He has gifts for preaching, teaching, and leading large systems, but his ministry and his life depend on the grace of God, and the joy of the gospel.
