Support the Community
Want to help out your local and church community? We have several online and at home opportunities to help.

Help Hungry Kids
Floris UMC’s Help Hungry Kids ministry provides meals to children at Hutchison Elementary School who have little to eat over the weekend. We are looking for specific donations of food that will be used to make up these bags of food.

GRACE Ministries
GRACE Ministries of Floris UMC distributes food on the first Saturday of every month to those families in the community that have little to eat. We are looking for specific donations listed below that will be used for each distribution.
- Peanut butter
- Spaghetti/tomato sauce (NO GLASS)
- Canned vegetables or canned fruit
- Spaghetti or pasta
- Rice (1-2 lb bags)
- Beans (1-2 lb bags)
Drop off food in the blue donation bin in front of Floris UMC. The bin is available Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

She Believes in Me
She Believes in Me (SBIM) is a nonprofit that empowers girls in the Herndon community. The girls come from diverse backgrounds, difficult socioeconomic conditions, and/or traumatic experiences. SBIM provides life skills and hope.
During COVID-19, SBIM has altered its mission to provide food and resources to all families in need. They deliver food to families daily, as well as provide biweekly grocery needs to our most vulnerable.
SBIM is asking for members to consider leaving a bin outside your door and collecting food in your neighborhood to support their cause. Print out the below flyer and put on your bin. We are collecting Pasta, Pasta Sauce – NO GLASS, Soup, Cereal, Crackers, Canned Fruit, Chewy Granola Bars, Baby Wipes and any size Diapers (including pull-ups, no size 3). Please drop these items in the blue bin in front of the church, labeled “Neighborhood Box- Food Donations” with the She Believes in Me logo.

COVID-19 Fund
We have established a relief fund to assist families in our church and community during this time of economic uncertainty using funds from our Christmas Eve offering. Floris UMC is partnering with local agencies to identify people and families in the community who most need financial assistance. These ministry partners have established vetting processes and expertise. We want to work alongside them to provide this much-needed support. We will also help families in our church who may need assistance.
This fund is currently closed to new contributions.
