Childcare

Age 3 Months to Grade 5

Our childcare ministry welcomes a partnership with our Floris UMC families. Together, we support children’s developmental and spiritual needs while providing a safe and playful environment. We designed two areas on the second floor to support age-appropriate care for children ages three months-grade 5.

We welcome children of all abilities! To learn more about accommodations for children and students, visit Access Ministries.

What to Bring

We recommend you bring the following items labeled with your child’s name:

  • A bottle for infants
  • Two disposable diapers, if needed
  • A comfort item, such as a pacifier, if needed
  • A complete change of clothes

Food Policies

For the health and safety of all children, we have a peanut-free childcare environment and limit snacks to those provided by our ministry.  If we plan to serve other special food items, we will notify you before the event. We will also let you know if you need to pack your child a meal or snack (peanut-free).

Let us know if your child has any allergies.

Sick Child Policies

We operate a well-child program. For the health of all the children in our ministry, we cannot accept a child with:

  • a runny nose
  • a fresh cold (four days or less)
  • a fever
  • a rash
  • persistent cough
  • diarrhea
  • any other signs of illness

Please do not place your child in the program while they are at risk of exposing other children. Thank you for helping us keep our program a healthy place!

Check In & Pick Up Process

We have an electronic check-in system to support the security and safety of your children. After being greeted by a childcare leader, you will check in with your last name and verify your family’s information. We then print name tags for children to wear and pick-up tags (with a unique code) for parents/guardians.

We ask you to provide a phone number to allow our childcare staff to contact you while their child is in our care. If your child cries, we will immediately soothe them. If your child cries for an extended period (ten minutes), we will text “nursery” and a short message. Please keep your phone with you so we can reach you if needed.

After you complete the check-in process, wave goodbye as your child enters the Nursery or Kids Crossing area. For safety reasons, we only allow children and trained staff in the childcare areas.

Parents/guardians must present the pick-up tag to pick up their children (you can wear it to avoid losing it). We will only release children to an adult whose pick-up tag matches the child’s name tag. Replacement pick-up tags are available only after verifying that the adult is authorized to pick up a child.

Our Staff

We screen and train our childcare staff on our safety policies and procedures. Our paid personnel have first aid and CPR training.
