Poinsettia Dedication

Poinsettia Dedications: Celebrate Christmas with a Gift of Beauty and Meaning

As we prepare our hearts and our worship spaces for the wonder of Christmas, you are invited to take part in a cherished tradition that brings both beauty and remembrance to our Christmas Eve services. Poinsettia Dedications are a meaningful way to honor loved ones, remember those who have passed, or offer a gift “To the Glory of God” during this sacred season.

Each dedication is $15 and includes a beautiful poinsettia displayed throughout our Christmas Eve worship. These vibrant plants brighten our sanctuary and represent the love, gratitude, and faith of our church family. You can choose to dedicate a poinsettia In Memory of someone dear, In Honor of a special person or group, or To the Glory of God. Your dedication becomes part of our collective celebration of hope, light, and the birth of Christ.

Your dedication will be included in our Christmas Eve materials so that your tribute can be shared with the congregation as we gather in worship. Many families find this tradition meaningful year after year because it provides an opportunity to pause, reflect, and offer something beautiful in the spirit of Christmas.

Making a dedication is simple. Just complete the online form using the link below:

You are welcome to dedicate multiple poinsettias if you wish. After Christmas Eve services, you may take home your poinsettia or leave it to be shared with members of our community as a gesture of care.

For more information or assistance with your dedication, please contact Daniel Cho. Our team is happy to help.

Join us in filling our worship space with color, warmth, and love this Christmas. Your dedication is more than a plant; it is a symbol of remembrance, celebration, and the joy we share in this holy season.

South Asian Christmas Pageant

Saturday, December 6 at 5:30 p.m.
Floris United Methodist Church
Join us for a joyful and vibrant celebration of the Christmas story through the traditions of our South Asian community. The South Asian Christmas Pageant is a beloved annual event that brings families together for an evening filled with storytelling, music, and cultural expression.
Children from our South Asian ministry will share the nativity story through spoken word, singing, dancing, and heartfelt performances. Their creativity and enthusiasm bring the story of Jesus’ birth to life in a meaningful and memorable way.

These photos capture the color, energy, and joy that fill this event each year.
The evening will also include music and a short Christmas message to center us on the meaning of the season. Whether you attend every year or this is your first time, the pageant offers a warm and welcoming experience for all ages.
After the program, everyone is invited to stay for dinner. Sharing a meal together is an important part of this celebration and creates space for community, conversation, and connection.
We hope you will join us for this beautiful celebration of culture, faith, and the Christmas story. All are welcome, and we look forward to sharing this special evening with you.

Student Christmas Caroling

Student Christmas Caroling
Sunday, December 21 | 5:00–7:00 p.m. | Fellowship Hall

It’s the most wonderful time of the year—and what better way to celebrate than by sharing the joy of Christmas through song? All students in grades 6–12 are invited to join us for an evening of fun, fellowship, and festive spirit at our Student Caroling Night!

We’ll start the evening together in the Fellowship Hall at 5:00 p.m. with a delicious dinner and time to connect before heading out. After we’ve fueled up, we’ll break into groups and travel to local neighborhoods to spread Christmas cheer through caroling. Whether you’re a confident singer or just love the holiday season, your voice and your smile will help make someone’s night brighter!

Once we’ve shared our songs and laughter around the community, we’ll return to the church for a cozy time of hot chocolate and warm fellowship. It’s the perfect way to wrap up an evening filled with joy, friendship, and the true spirit of Christmas.

This is a great opportunity to make memories with friends, meet new people, and bring light to others during the holiday season. No experience is needed—just bring your enthusiasm, your Christmas spirit, and maybe a Santa hat or festive sweater!

Pick-up is at 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Darkness to Light: A Christmas Service of Reflection

Darkness to Light: A Christmas Service of Reflection

The Christmas season is often filled with bright lights, cheery songs, ringing bells, and the joyful expectation of celebration. While all of this can bring happiness, it can also feel overwhelming or isolating. For some, Christmas is a time to pause, reflect, and seek a deeper sense of peace and meaning.

Our Darkness to Light service offers a quiet, contemplative space to do just that. This special Christmas service is designed for anyone who wants to step away from the busyness of the season and enter a moment of calm, faith, and hope. Whether you are feeling anxious, lonely, or simply need a pause to connect with God, this service provides a welcoming environment to experience the love and presence of Christ.

During this service, we come together as a community to reflect on the journey from darkness into the light of Christ. Through prayer, scripture, and gentle music, participants are invited to acknowledge life’s challenges and find comfort in the promise of God’s peace. It is a time to slow down, center your heart, and remember the true meaning of Christmas beyond the celebrations and obligations.

Darkness to Light is open to everyone — whether you are a longtime member, a first-time visitor, or someone seeking a moment of solace in the midst of the season. There are no expectations other than to show up, breathe, and be present.

Take a pause this Christmas. Step into the quiet and allow yourself to be reminded that even in the darkest moments, the light of Christ is with us, offering hope, comfort, and love.

Spiritual Recovery Community

Spiritual Recovery Community: Finding Healing After Church Hurt

Have you walked away from a faith community or wrestled with the pain of high-control or fear-based religion? You are not alone—and your story matters. Many people carry wounds from spiritual environments that were meant to offer hope but instead left scars of judgment, fear, or exclusion. This event is designed with you in mind: a safe, welcoming space to explore healthier ways of engaging with faith.

Our time together will focus on topics specific to church-hurt, spiritual trauma, and the challenges of deconstructing harmful religious experiences. You’ll have the opportunity to share your frustrations, ask questions, and connect with others who understand what you’ve been through. Whether you’re still processing, searching for new meaning, or simply longing to be heard, this is a place where your journey is honored without pressure or judgment.

We’ll strive for balance: combining thoughtful, intellectual conversation about faith and spirituality with opportunities for personal and communal healing. This isn’t about quick fixes or forcing belief—it’s about holding space for honesty, curiosity, and growth. Together, we’ll create a community where listening, respect, and compassion guide our conversations.

If you’ve ever felt silenced, dismissed, or misunderstood in your faith journey, this gathering offers a chance to breathe, reflect, and rediscover hope in a healthier, more life-giving form of spirituality.

Come as you are. Bring your questions, your doubts, and your story.

You don’t have to navigate this alone—join us and find support among people who get it.

Happy Birthday Jesus

Happy Birthday, Jesus!

Sunday, December 21 at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m.
During Kid Nation

Join us for one of our most joyful and meaningful Kid Nation traditions as we celebrate the birth of Jesus together! On Sunday, December 21, preschoolers through 5th graders are invited to a special combined Kid Nation experience in the Hangar and Wesley spaces for our annual Happy Birthday Jesus party.

This festive gathering is a fun and engaging way for children to learn the story of Jesus’ birth while experiencing the wonder of Christmas in community with friends and caring leaders. Through music, games, crafts, and interactive storytelling, kids will be encouraged to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and God’s love coming close to us in the person of Jesus.

Happy Birthday Jesus brings together age groups across Kid Nation to build connection, celebrate faith, and help children recognize that the season is about more than presents and holiday busyness. Our Kid Nation team creates a warm, playful environment where children can participate, ask questions, and discover joy in the greatest gift ever given.

Parents, simply check your child into Kid Nation at either the 9:00 or 11:00 a.m. service. No registration is required. Because this is a combined experience, we recommend arriving a few minutes early for smooth check-in. All supplies, snacks, and activity materials will be provided.

We encourage families to keep the celebration going at home by talking about what your child learned and sharing birthday prayers for Jesus together.

HHK Packaging

HHK Packaging – Help Package Essentials

November 16, 2025
10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Join us for an impactful, hands-on opportunity to support families and children in our local community. Floris UMC partners with Herndon Helping Kids (HHK) to assemble care packages filled with essential items for students experiencing food insecurity and other challenges. These gatherings are energetic, meaningful, and an excellent way to serve alongside others who are passionate about loving our neighbors.

HHK Packaging Events are simple, high-impact service opportunities suitable for individuals, families, students, and anyone with a heart to help. Volunteers will work together to sort, prepare, and package items that will be distributed through our community partnerships. Every bag packed makes an immediate difference for a local child.

We’ll be hosting this event on two separate dates:

  • Friday, October 17 — in The Hanger
  • Sunday, November 16 — in the Fellowship Hall between morning worship services

You’re welcome to join one date or both. Come when you can and stay as long as you’re able within the scheduled session. No prior experience is needed, and all supplies will be provided.

No Registration Required

This is a drop-in service opportunity. Simply show up, check in with our volunteer leads, and jump into the packing stations. We anticipate around 20 participants, but additional hands are always welcome.

Why It Matters

Food insecurity and limited access to essential supplies affect children right here in our community. By helping assemble HHK packages, you are directly supporting our mission to Pour Out love through action and compassion.
